Repentance and Redemption

I think one of the greatest struggles with sexual addiction is often the guilt and the blame. I remember once when I had a fall...I beat myself over the head for a long time. Even though I had repented and asked God for His forgiveness immediately after the fall. I have since been able to let this fall go, and I don't let the enemy use it against me anymore...but it didn't happen overnight, it took me almost a year actually to let the fall go.

So, with that being said...how does our repentance for our sinful actions release us through the blood of Jesus? Does God want us to continually walk around feeling guilty or does He want us to let go of the guilt after we repent? Why do you think we continue to beat ourselves up afer a fall? Does our inability to forgive ourselves and let the sin go after asking God for forgiveness keep us bound to the sin?

Jesus died so that we can be washed clean in His blood...but do we recognize this as being so all the time?
