Please help!

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

Good to hear. :)

Have you done the counseling steps here. It is DEFINITELY a way to get closer to God as well as helping you over come your issues. Not just this one you shared. I highly suggest you give it deep consideration. Many have done the 14 step program and rave about the changes God made in them through it. You stated you don't seem to have a deep relationship with God so I'm sharing this is a way to get that relationship with the Father deeper.

God loves you and so do I!

Hi svd :) I agree with Pine...the programs and studies here at the Oasis are a way to strengthen your growth with the Lord. Also, reading your Bible, praying and listening to Christian music will help. Talk to God as you would talk to your best friend...He will hear you...and yes He already knows everything about you...so it's ok to go ahead and talk openly with Him...He will love the talks.

Keep pushing through my friend.

luv ya

Hey everyone,
Ooops, forgot to mention I am doing the 14-step program, and it is amazing. And I do feel some growth, but, I am an extremely impatient person at times, and of course, I am not growing enough quick enough. :)
Anyway, yesterday was a good day, and today will be a good day as well, with God's help.
Thanks again for everything!

Aha...patience...well I've had a few battles with that myself...but I'm getting much better at waiting upon the Lord and taking life one day at a time, one moment at a time.

Glad to hear you are doing the counseling program.

I am on day 11 of the course, and like I said, it is really a big help. Yesterday, another good day...even in terms of patience, it was much better. Today, another good day, with God's help.
Thanks again everyone! Love all of ya!

still stumbling, still getting back up

Postby Guest » Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:01 am

Well, I slipped some yesterday, but, I got out of the sites quickly and came here...so I'm not real sure what to label it...a victory, a stumble, or a victory over a stumble.
You know, I've been clean from drugs and alcohol for over 18 years. And that was easier compared to this...my flesh just screams at times for gratification, you know?
Anyway, today will be better, with God's help. Thanks guys, for listening. I'm sure it gets old reading about my downfalls.

Actually I see it as reading about your triumphs...the enemy came knocking and you realized it and quickly removed yourself from the situation and got back on the right path...that means you are now calling upon the Lord's strength to pick you up after a fall...and that is definitely a victory.

fell again, want to be with God in heaven

Postby Guest » Thu Jul 29, 2010 4:44 pm

Unfortunately, I fell again today.
It is almost like my flesh had to have one more outing, so to speak...and I've had "one more outing" so many times. Please, please everyone...pray that this would be the last time I succumb...because I can't take much more...I try praying, I try using guilt as a motivator, I try telling myself "well, just once more..."
I have a LOT of blessings in my life...my beautiful wife, my home, my job, my family, my church...I don't want God to take them all away, or allow them to slip away because I am so weak...and I know what Paul says about weakness ("In my weakness God is strong," a paraphrase, I know...)
At times like this, I just wish God would bring me home...I mean, before anyone makes a conclusion, no, I'm not contemplating suicide...I just mean I want all this over and to be at home with God...that He would just let me die.
So, so many times, I've said..."this is the last time." So, so many times, it wasn't.
Thank you all for listening, and for your encouragment.

Hi,

I am wondering if you have tried putting a blocker on your computer. If you have not I suggest you do this, as it will help bring a deturrent when you feel tempted. There are some free ones online, that you can google and try.

Keep repenting and getting up my friend. God still loves you unconditionally.

I have tried blockers, but it seems they tend to bog down everything, and make things run slower.
But, I will look and see what I can find.
Thanks
