Why the need to change the wording of The Twelve Steps? I find this disrespectful of A.A.

The words may be different, but the intention and the impact on another is the same.

There are many 12 step programs out in in the world today that have become Biblical in nature.

For example, the following 12 steps are used world wide by "Christians in Recovery" in which is a "Christ" centered Program.

1. We admitted we were powerless over the lives of our loved ones.

2. We came to believe that Christ could change our way of thinking.

3. We made a decision to turn our will and lives over to Christ, COMPLETELY.

4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of OURSELVES.

5. We admitted to Christ, ourselves, and to another person the exact nature of our wrongs.

6. We were entirely ready to have Christ remove all these defects
of character.

7. We humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

8. We made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong PROMPTLY ADMITTED IT.

11. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our relationship with Christ, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.(Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as revealed in the Bible).

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others in the same situation, and to practice these principles in our lives.

Overeaters Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, and so forth have their 12 step programs that have developed from the original AA 12 steps. I do not feel that Bill W. or Dr. Bob ( Founder& Co-Founder) of A.A. would condemn any of these if it would help a person, group, and/or society as a whole.

To each his own.

I am not ASHAMED of the Gospel nor the effort I have put in this Forum the past 6 years.

God called me here.
I listen to Him and not man.

A post in this thread has been removed for violation of the Terms of Use Agreement.

Please remember that we do not allow posts which include name calling or wording designed to cause disruptions.

We will NOT allow anyone to sit in judgment of potential Christians or Christians with beliefs that differ from the beliefs which they possess.

However, discussion of most any righteous topic is fine as long as everyone can be respectful of each other.

If one seeks to argue about specific topics, there are LOTS of other Chat Rooms that have other likeminded souls who are more than willing to waste the day arguing the finer points of the LETTER of God's Word or other teachings.

Thank you Realtmg for responding as you did.

Matthew 10:16
Be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

I do hope this can be resolved as BOTH have so much to offer the lost and hurting souls who are reading what you share and determining if HOPE can be found here.

Luv all of ya
