Acceptance

This forum is for those souls 18 years and older who are dealing with some type of addictive behavior whether it be from alcohol, drugs, overeating, fear, worry, sex, etc. Only with help and guidance from God can we ever hope to overcome these addictions. What is impossible for us to do IS POSSIBLE with God. Friends and family of those stricken with addictions are welcome to share as this problem affects more than just the soul entangled in its web.

Acceptance

There is some wisdom in the following statements. One part is quoted from the A.A. Big Book. I felt a need to share this as it has helped me and others I know. It works whether you have an addicted personality or not.

When I stopped living in the problem, and began living in the Answer the problem went away.

And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing , or situation- some fact of my life- unacceptable to me, that I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God's world by mistake. Until I accepted my problem, I could not overcome it; unless I accept life completely on life terms, I cannot be happy. I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as what needs to be changed in me and my attitudes. :)

Psalm 139:2-5
Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising,
thou understandest my thought afaroff.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down,
and art acquainted with all my ways.
For there is]not a word in my tongue,
but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
Thou hast beset me behind and before,
and laid thine hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

I have to accept something new everyday. But I learned I don't have to do it alone. I have this friend named Jesus that is always by my side. I can't change people so I have to tolerate them or accept them as they are and me as I am.
Just had a few things on my mind this morning and this was one of them. Just thought I would share a lil.

GBU all,
