Question about sin....

First of all i am not saying after you read everything that i am giving in to sin, i am still trying my hardest not to, however after starting to read Desiring God by John Piper i came across a line that got me questioning things. if anyone can help me out to get back into the right mind please do....
“The evil Satan causes is only by permission of God.” John Piper, Desiring God page 35 second paragraph
This makes me confused for the simple fact that if sin is committed as a part of Gods plan then why do we try so hard not to sin. The only answer I can come with are (1) it is to test our strength in faith and (2) sometimes it is necessary to sin. Just like Judas sinned in betraying Jesus, but if he didn’t Christ would not have died on the cross for our sins. Yet still, how are we supposed to know the difference between sin that is meant for an overall positive outcome and sin that doesn’t do anything? Or is there such thing as sin with no purpose, what if all sin has purpose and that’s why we sin? I understand that the human race has choice to sin and that we just are sinful, and we are forgiven. Perhaps we are not to sin for it is considered blatant disregard for the gifts that God has bestowed upon us. To show him affection we are to uphold his rules by choice, but again if we are sinful then it can not escape us. As I was told, if you never want to sin again go stand in the street and get hit by a bus. It is impossible for the human race to escape sin, and sin can only happen under Gods permission. So does this mean that God allows us to sin, it has to be the case. So, to prove my point of confusion, why are we supposed to try our hardest not to sin? Granted sin is sin, however I want to be able to identify my sin even retrospectively, the difference between when I sinned for nothing and when I sinned as part of Gods plan so that I may more correctly curve my behavior. Not to repeat the same sin again because I think it will be apart of gods plans, but to see the hard times of life as a gift from god.
Why should we try our hardest not to sin if some sin is necessary and we don’t know the difference? To please god for if we are meant to sin then he will not let us escape it.
However this leads me to if we cannot escape sin, why try? As in, if God created us to be sinful by nature, why try to fight it?
i'm a little embarrassed, posting this. i know its not right but i want this internal turmoil resolved so i am looking to an out side source for help. thank you
