The Problem of Perversity Part 2
If we would sit down and make a list of all of the things that have been created in the world that are perverse, we would discover, much to our dismay, that we have problems with things that are perverse like everyone else. Why? We do not understand what it takes and the time it takes to free us from perversity. It isn’t a onetime stop at the baptismal as many would have us believe, and it isn’t a weekly stop at the confessional which many would have you to believe, and it isn’t a moment by moment abiding…until you have aged in the Spirit enough to abide moment by moment, and it isn’t rising early, and it isn’t praying 3 times a day, and it isn’t spending hours on your knees, and it isn’t attending church once a week, and it isn’t speaking in tongues, and it isn’t a walk in the park, and it isn’t playing the bless me game of God give me riches because all those preachers on TV said you would, and so on and so forth. Well, if not those things, what is it?
It is winning your salvation through patience and faith after you have confessed God raised our Lord from the dead and been baptized…for it is after baptism you will discover you still have issues with perversity. It is then you will need more help. Our help is the Spirit of God. It is the Spirit of God that was given to us to grow us up out of a perverse life into the glorious eternal life of God.
He has one soul objective in our life and that is to make us perfect (in love) in the love of God and one another. We aren’t perfect love and the proof of that is buried in the perverse life we tend to live. What is our perverse life? Of ourselves we cannot love as God loves. In order for us to love as God loves, the Spirit of God must build His love into us, and that can take forty years. What is required of us in our walk out of the perverse life of the world is faith enough to be patient over a long period of time, and a sincere longing for the Holy Spirit to correct our flaws as He wills…ultimately making us perfect in love, the love He is, which is eternal life.
