Understanding the Spirit of God; Spirit 2 of 7; Wisdom #2

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

Understanding the Spirit of God; Spirit 2 of 7; Wisdom #2

We begin the second part of our look into The Spirit of Wisdom with the young King Solomon in the presence of God. Solomon was only 12 years old.

2Sam.12

[24] And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: and the LORD loved him.

1Kings.3

[3] And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
[4] And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
[5] In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
[6] And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
[7] And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
[8] And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
[9] Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
[10] And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
[11] And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
[12] Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

When we think of King Solomon we immediately think of wisdom. God gave Solomon wisdom with which to rule his people, and through that wisdom the fame of him spread throughout the known world at that time. What we don’t immediately think of when we consider King Solomon is that he was given of God’s Spirit of Wisdom, that he was only 12 when God appeared to him in a dream, and perhaps most over looked of all are these facts, …these facts being made known to us before God came to him in a dream…God loved Solomon and Solomon loved God.

One might say Solomon was made an example for us to follow as we begin our journey here on earth in the Kingdom of Heaven. Many believe there are great and wonderful stories in the Bible…but most of us do not consider this; that those stories have anything to do with us…spiritually… I say we miss the boat entirely there especially where King Solomon is concerned. He was but a child when anointed king, but before he began his reign he was taught a great deal about God…properly I might add…properly in this sense…he was taught to love God and walk in his ways long before he was 12 years old.

I believe that is where we miss the boat the most with “our” children. We may understand “we should” train up our children in the way they should go… knowing that when they get old they will not depart from it…but most of us don’t because we “lack the spiritual wisdom to do so.”

Solomon loved God and asked God for an understanding heart. God granted Solomon wisdom and an understanding heart so that he could discern, or judge between good and evil. Unfortunately, we do not take advantage of God’s love for us as Solomon’s father David did. We do not train up our children to love God like we should, knowing God first loved us. We do not train them to draw close to God, walk in His love and seek his wisdom for the explicit purpose of discerning between good and evil...because we don’t! Considering those things coming upon the world today where evil is concerned, it would seem imperative that we seek the Spirit of Wisdom of our God. For how else are we going to equip our children through God the Father, to order their steps carefully, knowing how to avoid…and avoiding the evils of this world multiplying daily in the sight of our eyes.

Matt.19

[14] But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Unlike we adults, our children are capable of understanding who they have been made in Christ Jesus quickly. They are capable of growing up as princes and princesses in the household of God, accepting their birth right with honor and dignity, ever mindful of the glory that awaits them, made to be kings and priests in the Kingdom of God.

There is much to our place in the Kingdom of God we don’t walk in as adults, even that knowledge and wisdom in the preceding paragraph. Most of us do not walk mindful of the fact glory, honor, and power awaits us at the end of our journey here if we remain faithful. We tend not to seek and gain the wisdom (via the Spirit of Wisdom) necessary for that kind of walk, knowing that God is faithful who promised such to us.

1Cor.3

[3] For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as just men?

We fail our children by walking in the wisdom of this world. If we ourselves will not walk in the wisdom of who we have been made in Christ Jesus…the glorious offspring of Almighty God, how shall we teach our children “that walk” without hypocrisy?

Hypocrisy is The Spirit of Wisdom’s greatest enemy, for it, (Hypocrisy), is the filthy person born of the wisdom of this world. However, conversely, God’s Spirit of Wisdom is Hypocrisy’s greatest enemy in the world! Our young children born of God at baptism are not ashamed or afraid to do as the Spirit of God leads them to do. Rather, they do so eagerly, and with love. Isn’t that wonderful!!!??? Yes, glory to God, most certainly it is for them when they rise from the baptismal chamber!!! But we lack the wisdom to understand how important it is for us to walk worthily before their eyes in Christ Jesus…knowing this…that it is the Spirit of Wisdom of God within us that opens our eyes to see and choose the paths of righteousness for His name sake.

Pss.23

[3] He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

We cannot walk in righteousness without the Spirit of Wisdom in our life. We would seek wisdom from God more readily if we could see just how easily our little babes in Christ Jesus can be confused by our actions, actions that cut like a knife through their understanding of the love of God. Think about it…Wouldn’t you like to have God’s Spirit of Wisdom in your life for the sake of your children? The wisdom of this world does not belong to us…but the Spirit of Wisdom does.

End, Wisdom, Part 2

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
