The 7 Spirits of God

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

The 7 Spirits of God

Hello Christianity Oasis, All...

Happy Easter!

My main responsibility on this site has been to open your eyes to the great riches God has provided for us through His Spirit as a direct result of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ being resurrected from the dead. I've often pointed out that the most significant problem of mainstream Christianity has been their focus on the birth, life, and crucifixion of our lord, our impending resurrection from the dead and subsequent judgement. Such focus has always been at the expense of declaring to us the truth about the great inheritance of life, power, riches, and glory our Lord's resurrection has given us access to by The Holy Spirit...i.e., the mystery hidden from ages and generations even before the travail of this world began, Christ in you, the hope of glory! That being said, as we commemorated the resurrection of our Lord day this past Easter Sunday our view going forward will be toward gaining a greater understanding of our Lord's 7 fold spiritual nature as They/He apply to our inheritance in Him...as it is written...we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.

Definitions taken from the Online Oxford Dictionary

First of all I believe it is important for us to understand the finite word attribute. According to the Oxford online dictionary, by definition, an attribute is a quality or feature regarded as a characteristic or inherent part of someone or something. When we depict Jesus as having a 7 fold spiritual nature, we are saying that each one of those 7 Spirits is an attribute of Him. For example...let us say that we know of a great athlete that excels at 7 different sports. He/she excels at basketball, baseball, volleyball, soccer, football, tennis and track. Each skill is an attribute of that person. When we think of him/her we call the person an athlete. What is an athlete? An athlete is a person who is proficient in sports and other forms of physical exercise. An athlete is called an athlete because he/she has several attributes that allow that person to perform at a high level in a number of different sports...not just one.

In other words, if I only excel at one sport...let us say golf, I am not an athlete.

In order to be called an athlete one must have a significant number of attributes that qualify that person to be called one. Those attributes set those so gifted a part from most members of our race. Nevertheless, such a person is finite and cannot impart his/her attributes to others to perform them like he/she can. It is rare that a professional athlete imparts his single ability to a son or daughter genetically such that the child excels at the same sport to the degree the parent did, let alone 7 different inherent athletic abilities.

All that being said, we come now to God our Heavenly Dad, and His Son, our Lord Jesus, our Savior. God the Father and the Son have 7 spiritual attributes that separate them…set them apart from all other living creatures. As it is written, "There is no other like God." Moreover, each of the 7 Spirits of God have a subset of attributes that set them apart from all other creatures in Heaven, on the Earth, and inside the Earth even more than we see or understand of the 7. To begin with we will list the names of The 7 Spirits of God as they were enumerated by the prophet Isaiah, chapter 11. Here are the scriptures as quoted from the University of Michigan online King James Version of the Bible.

Isa.11

[1] And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
[2] And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
[3] And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
[4] But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
[5] And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

The 7 Spirits are The Spirit of the Lord, The Spirit of Wisdom, The Spirit of Understanding, The Spirit of Counsel, The Spirit of Might, The Spirit of Knowledge, and The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord.

In part 2 of this article we will discuss The Spirit of the Lord.
End, Part 1

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
