I've had this message on my mind for several months. Why do Christians still use the word pride in reference to sons, daughters, self and others? Are we illiterate, or just too much in and of the world to give a hoot? I believe the latter is the problem..., and it isn't so much that we don't give a hoot, it is more like we don't recognize such as of the world. For the most part PRIDE OR PROUD is a word that most use in one context or another from time to time. But here's my beef..., the world in all of its many splendored ways has pushed hard for the past 30 years to change how we use the English language. I do believe it is time we began doing a little lingo changing of our own.

First of all, let's stop using pride as part of our common language. It really doesn't belong to us. It belongs to the world. Every sub-cultural pluralitic faction in this nation has a catch word or catch phrase to clue others of their political correctness in their little corner of Hell's half acre. Why shouldn't we become spiritually correct and act and speak like we already have our little corner in the great expanse of Heaven, and sit down in our Heavenly mansion ? After all you know...we are already seated with Christ in Heavenly places! Personally, I would like us to use the catch phrase "well pleased," or simply the word "pleased," or "happy,"when we speak of the delight we feel on behalf of one our Lord has blessed. Those words make me feel a little joy each time I use them instead of pride or proud.

With such catch words we can attract the attention of Christian co-workers around us that might not otherwise know we are of the faith. On the other side of the coin someone at work not of the faith might ask us why we chose to use pleased rather than pride. I would consider such an opportunity to speak candidly as follows.

1John.2
1.[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Another strong argument in favor of using Christian catch words and phrases to identify ourselves with in addition to Brother and Sister So and So and I am so blessed would be to identify ourselves with the Father of our Lord, who of our Lord, said, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" Additionally, such would create greater harmony in the Spirit when we are alone or part of a gathering.

Hello Clark, All...

This article is about getting rid of pride/proud, period, and using the words of God in their place such as happy...I am happy in the Lord makes ME feel good. If I say I glory in the Lord, I'm saying I put everything into loving the one that bought me and saved me. What a great thing my God has done for me! I haven't made myself anything, God has. Since it is all His work from start to finish, what do I have to boast about? But when I think of saying I'm proud in the Lord or I boast myself in the Lord, I feel puffed up. We don't need to be or feel puffed up for any reason. Our Lord humbled himself and became obedient even to the death of the cross.

I love you Clark in the Lord. God bless you super abundantly in His love...
