So what about the blood of Jesus?

Today we will take a short break from our articles on spiritual fitness and remind ourselves of the greatness of the blood of Jesus. Of course most of us that attend church regularly or home church or home fellowship partake of communion when it is offered to us, such representing Jesus as the bread we eat and blood we drink to be a partaker of His life in us.
Such isn’t a light thing and partaking of communion is an act of faith on our part believing that in so doing His life is renewed in us as by the cleansing of His mighty blood. Most of us feel somewhat less burdened after we partake of communion believing that our Lord’s blood has cleansed us of our week or weeks of sin. Truly our Lord honors us with His presence in our spirit and in the cleansing of our soul because of our faith in the bread as His body, and His blood His life in us. The Honorable Bishop Emeritus Robert J. Hermann of the St. Louis Arch Diocese said it this way.
“Belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist (taking communion) is difficult to comprehend as an intellectual experience. Rather, we must be able to embrace His Real Presence as a faith experience from the heart.”
Unfortunately many of us forget about our cleansing as we exit the church door and roll on to the next thing on our agenda. Such is the reason for this article on our Lord’s blood. We desire to remind all of the wonder, glory, greatness and power that belongs to us as we walk in the light of it. Its greatness is far far greater to us than as we think of it in communion. His blood was never intended to be in our thoughts only during communion, but be a part of our everyday walk through His Spirit that He has given us. We should be ever-mindful of His wonder working blood and the greatness of it.
Some of us have read 1John several times and not gotten a whole lot out of it, but our Lord has loosed a great deal of power, wisdom, and understanding therein, and should He graciously enlighten our eyes we will see much more. Let’s take a look at 1John:1:7.
[7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
First of all let us ask ourselves if we understand what it means to walk in the light as He is in the light? Some ministers teach that walking in the light is walking in the light of the God’s words. There is certainly some truth in that saying, but the greater understanding of light is found in 1John:1:5. 1John:1:5 tells us what walking in the light really is.
[5] This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.
What is the light we are to walk in? God HIMSELF is the light. Now lets look at verse 7 again.
[7] But if we walk in the light, as He (God) is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Who is in the light? God is in the light. But what is the light God is in that we are to walk in? We know He is the light, but what light is He in? He is in the light that there is no darkness in Him at all. Such means that if we would walk in the light He walks in we would understand there is no darkness in us at all. How can that be? If we walk in the light He walks in the blood of Jesus automatically cleanses us from all sin. There is no darkness in us at all.
But what if we sin? 1John 1:9. If we confess our sin He is faithful and just to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. If we sin we confess it and get back in the light as He is in the light that there is no darkness in us at all.
And why did the Apostle John write these things to us? 1John:1:4
[4] And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
Why should our joy be full when we understand these things? Nothing is separating us from our Heavenly Dad or our Lord Jesus, absolutely nothing! If we walk in the light as God is in the light, we are light!
There is wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb!
Now lets take the glorious picture of ourselves standing around the Throne of Grace in the presence of God our Father and Jesus our Lord. Let us see the great joy that our Father has because we are there with Him in His light. And let us see the great joy our Lord Jesus has because we are standing there in glory with Him. Now let us consider and look upon that which is the reason for our joy...there. in our midst, there it is, the glowing, glorious, wonder working blood that has saved us from our sins. We do so that we might have joy! (John 17:13*** And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. What is the joy of our Lord? The joy of our Lord is going to the Father, fellowshipping with the Father and the Son.
Moreover, this great sight of us fellowshipping with one another and with the Father and the Son is made even more precious to us in our hearts as we fully comprehend the light God is to us in His presence.
1John4[17] Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as He[God]is, [LIGHT]so are we in this world.
Blessings!
Love, In Christ Jesus, saint.
