Christ in you, part 2

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

In our series of articles on the The Other Side of the Cross we last discussed perhaps the greatest benefit of our Lord’s resurrection, that being Christ living within us, Christ within, our hope of glory. Today we will continue examining that phenomenon as there is the need for us to elaborate on the experience itself.

First of all Christ in you is “NOT” The Imitation of Christ as penned by Thomas à Kempis so long ago. Although eloquent and seemingly full of wisdom, the work itself leads one to think that one’s immersion in those actions that are virtuous, ideal, and most Christ-like make us of the highest good not only ourselves, but also for those to follow. However, the imitation of Christ is not Christ in you, and is not your hope of glory. Seeking perfection by imitating Christ is not the same as Christ living His life in you to do His perfect will that you might be made perfect in Him. In fact, imitating Christ is a stumbling block in this respect; we cannot die to ourselves, as ourselves have already died on the cross in Christ. And seeing that we have died in him, we also see that through His resurrection we also now have our life in Him. If Christ is our life, and we live in Him, then His mind is in us also. Therefore, as the Apostle Paul said so wonderfully:Gal.2

[20] I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.

1Cor.2

[16] For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

The great apostle wasn’t imitating anyone. He was aware of a greater personality living in Him and yielded his mind and his will to that of the greater one, Christ in him, Paul’s hope of glory. Now to this point we’ve shown that Christ in you is just that, the Spirit of Christ living His life through our soul with access to His mind and will on every matter. What the Apostle Paul said to us is what he meant and is our reality.Phil.2

[13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Tomorrow we will discuss our ongoing personal experience of Christ living in us.

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
