Christianity Oasis Forum

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

The Dynamics of Discipleship

Postby saint701 » Mon May 10, 2010 7:46 pm

Hello All,

*AngelYellow*
Blessings!

We Christians have some serious work ahead of us in the short time frame left to us. I say short as this post is for those of us either about to be getting on in years or already there. It is especially for what I call Winnebago Christians, those with lots of time and money on their hands. I just want to ask one question. Why?

How many souls have you personally led to the Lord? Or are you counting on the fact your good life lived before man as a sign they should believe as something which will not be burned up in the presence of the Lord? I don't know how many times I have heard people say that their personal outward walk of Sunday Church going and other such personal self discipline was worthy of our Lord. Ridiculous!

Elderly Christians must reflect the life of a disciple. Discipleship is not just for priests and ministers. Discipleship is for we that should be mature Christians. We have been taught to observe all that our Lord told the Apostles to teach us.

First of all, we must continue in His Word. We must abide in His Word. Every person on this planet of 50 years or older that calls themselves a Christian should be as knowledgeable about the Bible as they are their job. By age 50 we should have died to self and be bearing much fruit. That means either using that Winnebago to travel and minister the Word of God, or selling it and putting that money into the work of the Lord.

Jesus said whoever loses His life shall find it. Storms are coming people. What are you going to do when that Winnebago winds up on top of your house flattened like a pancake with your favorite oak tree on top of it?

John.8

1. [31] If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Mark.8

1. [35] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

Mark.10
[29] And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
[30] But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Luke.14

1. [26] If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
2. [27] And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
3. [33] So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

Time is running out to put things right people!

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
