Day eleven

Trying to keep going, fighting thoughts of hopelessness and other negative thoughts about hating myself. So often thoughts say, "You have nothing to live for. You are so lonely. Everyone else is busy and you're all by yourself without anyone or any purpose. You'll never be able to change." My weekend was a little tough to get through.

Today I read this verse which I really needed to see,
“Stop doubting and believe.” —JOHN 20:27 (NIV)

It's been difficult to get rid of my doubts.

HI Christine,

Be patient with your self sis. *hug* Just as the negative thoughts took time to grow over the years, it takes time for our new thoughts to grow. Try to relax and enjoy your time with Him. Not sure if you heard this before, but it has helped me with what part of the solution is to my negative thoughts.

"Inside of me there are two dogs.
The black dog is mean and tries to talk me into making the wrong choices.
The white dog is good and encourages me to make the right choices.
The black dog fights the white dog all day."

When asked by the friend which dog wins, the elder reflected for a moment and replied;

"The one I feed the most."

Most of us are the same way. There is a part of us that is Christ-spirited, compassionate, trusting, open, abundant and focused on helping others.
(Our White Dog.)
We also have a self-minded, fearful, habitual, controlling, anxious part of us that is generally focused on our limitations and preserving the status quo.
(Our Black Dog.)

And these two parts are in constant struggle.

Prayers remain and I hope you feel encouraged and know that
you are not alone sis.
*hug*
God bless n keep ya
♥Jill

Thank you, Jill and Pine! *hug*

Jill,
I like your explanation about positive vs. negative thoughts using the black and white dog comparison. I've never heard it explained like that. Thank you for sharing it!
