Day 9 - Changing habits

Postby Vkmama » Sun May 02, 2010 10:49 am

Everyone has bad habits, even if they don't think they do. I was raised with negativity and have tried so hard to fight bringing those negative things up in any conversations I have. It's hard to quit a habit like this when you must maintain relationships with the ones who taught it. Even though I continually remind myself that this one thing must change, it still happens. But I'm getting better.

So far, I feel so much lighter. My relationship with God is by far more important to me than holding grudges, keeping bad habits, or anything earthly. Everyday is a new day and everyday is a new chance.

Hey Vkmama,

I know just where youre coming from as far as the negative thinking thing goes...what we take in is what comes out... and what we focus on is where our hearts are led..so keep replacing those thoughts as soon as they come into your mind with Jesus' truth. Eventually, the more you begin to refocus on the positive things the easier it becomes to see them..and the Lord changes our ways of thinking over time. Whats taken years to put in there isnt gonna just change overnight so remember this is a daily thing..a daily growth..and daily changing that He does.

God bless you, and keep goin! Youre half way there and doing an awesome job!

In Jesus,
love momo *Halo*

I too grew up with negative thought patterns. I was one of those people that you did not want to ask "how are you doing" Because I could find only the negative to talk about and I kept a list prepared for just that opportunity. The thing is I did not know I was doing that? That was the way I was raised so it was not something I consiously thought about in was built in apart of my foundation growing up. I was not aware of the effect that it was having on me nor on the poor people that had made the mistake to ask how are you doing.
I began to learn this lesson through my friend in Memphis who was my "spiritual mama" She did it in such away that I did not feel condemnation about it but only love and a new way of living and thinking.
Still today i fight to control negative thoughts. and every once in awhile these find a place to simmer. but the thing is I am now aware and I find that thought and take it captive instead of it taking me captive. I would like to say if you do not deal with these thoughts as soon as they come they begin to suck your strength and commitment. So I would like to congratulate you on how well you are eating up the word! Because it is the word that will give you the strength to continue to fight and overcome. The battle is already won because you are hearing the positive, living word of God and through his living word is power!

So you go girl!!!! and keep plowing through. I love reading about your advancing every day.
