Skrubby keep working towards the goal my friend...the goal of becoming more and more like Jesus everyday. It's not an easy task by any means.

Let's talk a bit more about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is what resides in and around you. He is your comforter, and He also talks to you and thru you. When you speak to the Lord it's thru the Holy Spirit. Get to know all about Him, and make sure you tell Him how thankful you are to have Him with you. I know it's a lot to sink in at times, but just remember once you understand the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit then your walk will deepen and get stronger, and then my friend it will be a pleasant life here in the world, because you will no longer live in the world but will live in the Lord and that's were true happiness is found.

Again, Skrubby, thanks so much for your genuineness and authenticity (and humor!) in your posts. What a blessing.

As for those nasty weeds, I think part of it, too, is that as you successfully get rid of some that have really captured your attention, you become aware of others you didn't even realize were there. Can be discouraging. But don't lose sight of how far you have come!

One of the most blessed tools I have found is this:

"The weapons that we fight with are not the weapons of this world.
"On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strong holds.
"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought [weed!!] to make it obedient to Christ." (2 Cor. 10:4-5.)

Some of those roots are real ornery, huh? Yea, I can relate. But, you know what? I find that some of those roots are harder to pull because I'm standing on them. Ever tried to pull something you are inadvertently standing of a part of it?

Some of the roots are so characteristic of us. Eeeuuuuuwwwwwww! Yep, they are so familiar. Emotions are spiritual. What???!!!??? Yep, they are -- but usually reactions to negative thoughts or beliefs. So as we begin to allow God to work through us, to change us (which, by the way, is ongoing), He works in us to eliminate our dependence on those emotions. Sooooo, sometimes we pull and pull and pull a weed, only to find out we are standing on it.

What do we do when we realize this? We turn to Him. We confess and repent, and allow Him to comfort us and we move on with Him. Remember, we are no surprise to Him. He knows which weeds are are which and which ones we grapple with and sometimes feed.

God is changing our character, slowly. He knows all the things we need to learn. Our human nature tells us we need to do it now and be done with it, once and for all. But God will change us, in His time -- all we have to do is keep seeking Him, and enjoy the process. Remember the process is spending time with Him. That is itself is pretty amazing, huh?
