Need help!

Postby AliciaG77 » Mon Apr 23, 2012 12:01 pm

Well I don't know where to start except to say me and my husband are living with my grandma. She isn't your average grandma. She is making our marriage and our life extremely difficult. We have a car..an old car..I am praying it lasts until we can get a new one. We desperately need to get out of here. we NEED our own place! I need a job and if I get one then we can be able to afford our own place. When my husband Greg and I are alone..we get along great. But living with my crazy grandma has made us fight a lot more. I love him and I do not want to lose him. He has a job but it is part time. I need a job SO bad. I have been looking and haven't been hired yet. I feel time is running out!

Hi Alicia Hang in there. Trust in God and he will bless you. Keep trying to find a job and don't give up on your dreams of a happy marriage. Remember to keep the lines of communication open with your husband and noone or nothing can tare you apart. I understand how hard it is living with someone when you are married. I have lived with friends when I was married. I cannot imagine living with my Grandmother. All I can say is it took alot of patience and understanding on my part to make it work and I am sure you understand that all to well. I will keep you in my prayers. I pray that you find a job. I pray that you and your husband are able to cope with the struggles that are put before you.I pray that you find peace in your home. May God Bless You.

Hi Alicia,

Sorry to hear about the situation. I can talk to you as someone who has been, and will be for a little while yet, in a similar situation.

Of course, the ideal situation as you well know, is to have your own place with your husband ASAP, all the more so if you are contemplating starting a family in the future. This is what God wants for you and your husband.

To this end, maybe you can take encouragement from Psalm 37:3-5

'Trust in the Lord and do good; so you will live in the land, and enjoy security. Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him.'

In the meantime, you have got a very, very challenging situation to see yourselves through. At the risk of stating the obvious, you and your husband need as much 'you' time as possible, even if it be mundane day-to-day activities like grocery shopping and so on. This way, the times with your grandma might be more bearable, or perhaps even enjoyable.

Further to this, is it possible you both could stay somewhere else for a few weeks, like a holiday, or change of scenery at a different relative's house? I ask this because I think having a break from certain relatives, even if it means staying with others for a time, is all-important. Can make a big difference.

Hey, I'll stop it at that. I'll pray to The Lord on your behalf, that He not only help you get to where you need to be, but that the meantime also might run better for you before you can both get your own house.

God bless you.
