Diabetes

Hey, everyone. I was asked to post here as I have type two diabetes. I don't have to take insulin. Just have to take medicine, eat right, and exercise. Diabetes runs in my family. Both grandmothers, most aunts, and my mother have/had it. Both grandmothers lost a leg due to complications. I was young when that happened. Don't remember the details. But that scares me enough to where I really watch what I am doing. I have to take really good care of my feet too.
Sometimes, it gets really old. There is so much you have to remember to do. If you are sick, you still have to get up to take your reading, eat, take medicine, and take care of your feet. Even if you don't feel like eating, you have to eat.
There was a night in January 2007 where my heart was beating so hard, I could see it. I called my sister and she took me to the hospital. They had me stay overnight. They thought it was an anxiety attack, not a heart problem. But they kept me overnight because my blood sugar level was over 600. They pumped insulin in and monitored me all night long. That was kind of scary.
I took much better care for a long time, then backslid a bit recently. Back on track now. Doctor hollered at me and everything. Ok, ok she wins.
Well, just getting a thread started here. Hope other people will post. Oh, two last things. First, there is a recipe forum under the Message Boards. I posted some diabetic recipes. Here is the link: http://www.christianityoasis.com/Member ... m.php?f=57
Second, yeah I talk a lot about chocolate. I look at it sometimes, you know visit. Don't eat it. Just miss it.
God bless and protect everyone.
