My son just turned ten and is in the third grade. He has been diagnosed with aspergers syndrome. He does pretty well in school except for testing and handwriting. Socailly he has came a long way from where he was at two and I am very proud of him. He has a harder time making friends and fitting in at school and has often been teased because he does weird things like rocking, beating things against his chin (sensory issues) and other odd behaviors. He also likes things that are odd like watching movie trailers and collecting small things. Autistic kids are really special and I would not change mine for anything.... He has meltdowns at inappropriate moments and at times can be a real challange. I can totally understand where all of you are coming from.

Then we have to tell the kids their stepbro will be moving back to his mother's. not sure what the next few days will bring.
notlooking forward to it.

you know something sis ... i consider it a privilege to have gotten to know you over the last little while; i am enjoying our friendship .... i think you and your hubby have a good marriage base; its strong, and between the two of you, you will help your son weather this storm in his life; that's just part of parent's job ... to help them pick up the pieces and put it all back together again. God did not make a mistake when he choose you for your son's mother, He knew you'd be there for him

awwwww poor guy .... my heart goes out to the both of you sis... it makes my heart sad when boys have to deal with this type of stuff. its different with girls, we are wired emotionally ... somehow, we are more capable in areas of the heart.
you know, i used to think this was an adoption issue; but the more i talk to women who have sons and daughters i see/hear the same thing; when a girl gets hurt (emotionally) you can talk it thru with her ... she instinctively knows how to make her brain "move" in these areas. when someone would hurt joshua (emotionally) i was ready to make heads roll .. but with my daughters its different ... and weird, because we (women) are always acused of being "too emotional" yet, i find with them (my girls) they are able to take an emotional situation and verbalize it to understand it.
i talk too much

All things seem to be hitting the fan at the same time.
Michael has been having friendship problems with this girl....bottom line, she doesnt want to be friends anymore with him..she has the same issues as Michael does with Autism...so when she told him that...he wasnt to thrilled...started bugging her i guess...they have been friends forever..since 1st grade..which is a long time to Michael....i guess Riley found another friend and isnt including Michael anymore. So he doesnt know how to handle that...he said she called him retard, idiot, pervert..etc. but she was just kidding. But i think Michael wants to see it that way.
I would rather him not be around her...asking the teachers to keep them seperated....if that doesnt work..i dunno. I would hate for them to have to pull him out of the classes he is with her in. I know that they are core classes so he doesnt have a choice..the thing is why should he have to rearrange his life for her. I wish he would just ignore her...but he is so emotional with his friends.
It kills me having to watch him go thru this. I would home school but i dont have the smarts to know how..which is frustrating. I know people say "you can do it!" but have nothing to offer....
I feel like i am at fault for him being the way he is..cuz im the same way he is....but i wasnt as vocal as he was at that age...i internalized everthing and held it in....he is vocal.
