Help
I have a son who was diagnosed with Tourrette Syndrome, ADHD and Oppositional Defiance Disorder. I also have a son with a learning disability and a daughter who may just have learned behavior but is exibiting some of the same issues as her eldest brother. I am going to homeschool my eldest son this year because he is not ready to enter the highschool here. How do you manage everything as a single parent? Their dad is involved but I take care of most things because the kids are with me. How do you manage and get the help that you need? I feel overwhelmed at times with everything I have to do. I also feel that our family needs a lot of help and counseling but the place I found that would be great to go to cuz it has all we need is extremely expensive. Please pray for our family that God will provide the help that we need. Healing would be wonderful but if that is not God's plan for now then He needs to send help. Thanks for your prayers... GOd bless.

Hello Prayerfulheart
God bless you this day.
Prayerfulheart, there is hope in God. He loves you and He loves your children. Don't ever forget that, ok?
I am familiar with Tourrettes, I have a nephew that was diagnosed with it at age 4 or 5, but today as a 29 year old, he is fully functioning, married, with very few symptoms of the syndrome remaining -- only really noticable to those of us who know him, and then only when he is very, very tired. It took a while before the doctors found just the right dosage of meds to help him, but they finally did. He maintained on meds for many, many years, and several years back he decided he no longer needed the medication, and he stopped taking it. He is doing extremely well.
How does a single parent manage? you asked. You do so by relying on God, spending time with other Christians (whether in person or on this site) and you get the medical assistance you and they need, and you pray and hope in God.
Prayerful, God knows your struggle, and He has not taken His eye off of you or off your children -- they are His children first.
I'm lifting you up in prayer. God's blessed will be done.
I hope you continue to come here and let us offer spiritual support, and the love of Christ, and maybe an occasional giggle too.
God bless and keep you.
In Christ's love,
Sister Mack

THank you Mack
I appreciate your prayers and encouragement. I know I need to look to God and I am trying to do that. I struggle with all that I have to do though. THe resposibilities I have feel like more than one person can handle. I keep praying for God to send me a helper. Then I think maybe I am just complaining and that maybe God just wants me do it on my own.

Hello Prayerfulheart
Yes, I'm sure you get tired. Raising children and running a household is a lot of work. No doubt!!! Try to get plenty of rest and don't forget to eat too.
Prayerfulheart, the thoughts of "what if" can be worse than the reality. I don't know if you have ever read the 14-Day Counseling Study here on this site, but wooooohoooooo that really helped me. Thoughts used to drive me bonkerz, and it seemed the more I worried the more tired I got, and vice versus. If you have not read the study, and are interested, here's the link.

It's good to talk with others too, and get a breather. You are not alone, Prayerfulheart. Yes, you may be the only adult in your household, but you are not alone. God is with you, and look what He did -- He led you here so you could connect with others that understand and can be a sounding board and a friend.
God is so very Good.
God bless you, Prayerfulheart.
Love,
Sister Mack
