Study on the book of Matthew
I had spent time in prayer seeking God's heart on the key points of ministry, and what better example than Jesus himself in his 3 year ministry that started all this onto motion that continues on to this day. We know the basics of love one another minister to eachother reach out ect, but no detail or accurate offers... and after I read the book of Matthew it is plain to understand what ministry is all about, what to do, how to do it, the attacks that will follow, how to deal with those also, and first and formost a relationship with Jesus in the process.
1.Preparing the way of the Lord (after one accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior)
Matthew 3 God uses John the Baptist to prepare the way for the Lord in the hearts of men annoucing one who is greater than he is here. John the baptist planted seeds in the hearts of others by introducing Jesus and what would follow, that is the Kingdom of Heaven. Also realising the baptism before the sacrifice of the Lamb of God being Jesus, represented our duty to purify our heart and actions the works of our hands. Basically clean out house and make room in our heart for all that God is visiting here to do in us.
2. Leaders before they become one are testest and tried
Matthew 4 Jesus was first tested and tried and proved to be who he is then in vs 12 Then Jesus began his ministry, He was able to display discernment of who His Father positioned to be in ministry with him. vs 18 Jesus steps were directed in the right places at the right time then Jesus ministered through healing and that opened hearts for the next chapter
3. Understanding the Kingdom of Heaven
Matthew 5- 7 Jesus teaches and ministers and examples the Kingdom of Heaven and how to live by it and the importance to apply it to ministry. It connects people's faith to the Father and clearly explains what we are trusting in and living by it the fruit it brings in our relationship with God, eachother, jobs, ministry and even our inner spirit man.
4. Natural cause and effect of Jesus ministering the Kingdom of Heaven
Matthew 8 Jesus reviels the out pouring of Faith in strangers (for example the soldier who had a physically ill servent sought out Jesus for a healing of his servent, simply because of hearing about what Jesus was teaching and lived by) Meaning the good news travels fast and the message of the Kingdom of Heaven inspired and activated faith in others who just by hearing responded. vs 18 The importance of imediate obedience at the calling of Jesus to follow him leave no time for excuse, and attached to that, obedience comes with a high cost of discipleship
vs 23-27 Sometimes in our journey in discipleship can taks us through storms but Jesus is already prepared to get us to the other side as promised. vs 28--34 Casting out of demons and heals a person, prior storms one endures in following Jesus delivering the Kingdom of Heaven to others, those prior storms can indicate future advacaries and strong holds will be waiting on the otherside Jesus is taking us to for the purpose to free up others... most storms are sent to hinder or stop the delivering promise.
5. Power that delivers
Matthew 9:1-8 Forgiveness is just as poweful and miraculous as healing physically that Jesus exampled to the paralized man, and the faith of others that help those who lack it is often used to get others in bondage to their access of their deliverence. Also many times there will be haters who do not like to see in others Christ like faith being activated to a God connection but the haters had no adverse afect the the expansion of the Kingdom of Heaven as we read on proving that the Kingdom of Heaven is unstoppable. vs 13 Rejection of the self righteous and Jesus having mercy on the hearts of repentent sinners(Kingdom of Heaven newborns in the waiting)
6.Things will get worse before they get better
Matthew 10 Jesus continues to preach the Kingdom of Heaven. vs 16-26 Jesus makes it clear persecutions are comming. vs 34 Jesus also makes it clear he isn't going to bring peace but division, basically separation of light and dark Kingdom of Heaven and Kingdom of Darkness, and the separation of the two.
7. Remember to rest in a relationship with Jesus
Matthew 11:25-30 When you get tired in ministry always take the time to rest with Him, refuel on His love, you cannot give what you do not receive, receive freely of His love so it can be given out of you to others.
Matthew 6 is the power point of the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and is to be applied in all ministry be it just a mom at home with family, or to those around you, or apply it to others at church, or a small ministry or a large one, the rules are the same and do not change, the Keys to the Kingdom of Heaven and the key holder are those who have Jesus in their heart.
