Prayers of the Day - September 17

The Lord says: my plans for you are peace and not disaster; when you call to me, I will listen to you, and I will bring you back to the place from which I exiled you.
God our Father, we hear the words of the prophet Jeremiah recalling that the plans you have for us are peace and not disaster and that you will listen to us. As we celebrate the feast of St. Robert Bellarmine who is the patron saint of catechists and catechumens, we pray for all who teach our young people about the faith and for those who are searching to know more about you. May we remain faithful to your words and serve you in faith and in love. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Prayer for the Nation
With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds... to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations.
Who May Stand Before the Lord?

The earth is the LORD's and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it;
for he has founded it on the seas,
and established it on the rivers.

God is forever imaginative, colorful, and glorious in what He designs. Some of the descriptions of angels, including the one of Lucifer, indicate that they are exotic to the human eye and mind. Apparently angels have a beauty and variety that surpass anything known to man.
