Lead me in your justice, Lord. (Ps 5)
God of mercy and hope, we come to you this day remembering the examples of St. Peter Claver. He devoted his life to the service of those who were in need of water, food and medicine. This day, let us pray for all who are in situations where they need assistance with food and medicine. Let us remember those who volunteer to help in food pantries and in health clinics throughout the world. May they know of your mercy and hope in their lives. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Psalm 44
We have heard with our ears, O God,
our ancestors have told us,
what deeds you performed in their days,
in the days of old:
you with your own hand drove out the nations,
but them you planted;
you afflicted the peoples,
but them you set free;
for not by their own sword did they win the land,
nor did their own arm give them victory;
but your right hand, and your arm,
and the light of your countenance,
for you delighted in them.

Why do you hide your face?
