Oh my goodness! *eek*

Must we endure yet another bible revision? Especially the NIV? I admit that I use this version sometimes, but it's got about a million mistakes in it already (when compared to the KJV)...critical errors that include some major doctrines regarding the Truth.

Ugh! And gender-changing?? Is there really a need for that? I am not offended in any way by the predominantly masculine gender usage in the Bible. That's the way God had it written--that's the way it should stay. I would think that most Christian women--even young ones--can understand that even though God's Word uses masculine gender references, doesn't mean He is excluding us from being His children...His daughters.

Geez...give me a break! Who are these folks who are always clamoring for new bible versions? There's too many in circulation already, in my opinion. God's Word doesn't need to be constantly updated. If the uneducated people in Jesus' day could read and understand it, then surely our sophisticated and highly educated current society can read and understand it also.

I hope not to offend anyone...just putting in my two-cents.

Blessings *AngelYellow*

wow skrubs. I am not sure how to respond to this. See I don't even own a KJV I do own a NKJV which is a lil easier to understand. And i also have a Womens Devotional NIV which i then looked up the publishing date which was 1990. That was the first Bible i started using as I seemed to be able to better comprehend wat was being said. And sometimes i still use it. It has NIV version but also some devotionals scattered throughout it. Though they are clearly marked as devotional and outside of actual Bible. Now i am more into the NKJV.

Maybe as we grow and learn more, we end up going closer to original version. I dunno just a thought there. I have to admit though that KJV still eludes my understanding alot of times. Maybe part of the block stems from past stuff. I dunno. And well most of time when i quote i am using NIV version. Mostly cuz thats the Bible i keep by my puter. The NKJV i keep at my bed.

As far as TNIV i don't know that i have an opinion, having never seen it. Though when you first mentioned it in chat, my heart kinda sunk a lil. But, I will say that if it brings lost people to God, then i will add a hearty amen as long as the actual Truth isn't changed.

Thanks for sharing this.

You know there is alot more history that could be added to what LJD gave...but it seems obvious the Bible must be popular in ALL it's translations, for it is the most widely read and most purchased book on the planet.
Am thinking God is pleased for anyone to open "a" Bible to read...to seek what He says..to want to touch His Words..to hopefully realize the only way to heaven is by the blood of Jesus Christ.

So I praise you Lucy for what you brought to this discussion.

If this new Bible translation is not of God then guess what it will fall flat on it's face as others have done before.
