No one knows when the end will happen, not even the angels in heaven.

Thessalonians 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Revelation 3:3 …If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

The above quotes are just telling you to be ready for the coming of Christ. Live today as if it could be your last. Like if he came tomorrow, how would you feel if you were drunk. He wants us to Love and forgive (have we done that). Do not be in darkness, Jesus is the light lets shine it for others to see.
As for Noah, God did tell him to build a boat, but that event was not the end of times. The end of times is when Christ will come down, in a cloud for all to see. Before that happens, there will be great heat that will melt heaven and earth. The end does come with fire. 2 peter 3:10. Rev 7:17, rev 8:7 , rev 9:18.

Why is the word ' Watch " not taken literally ?
"Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee."

It was not just Noah days, there are other events in the bible that God gave day of judgement :


God revealed in advance the exact day when Nineveh would be destroyed through judgment:

"And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown."

Jonah 3:4 (KJV)God gave advance notice of exactly when Sodom and Gomorrah would be destroyed so that Lot's family was able to escape just before destruction came:

"And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city."
