Building up your faith...
Years ago I struggled lots believing many of the wonderful scriptures applied to me. You know, I am such a terrible sinner that I John 1:9, where, if we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness...couldn't belong to me. Yep, was a very baby Christian. I did not know who I was in Christ Jesus, or even that I was in Christ Jesus, or had any rights in Christ Jesus.
Later on a good friend told me that if I would find scripture in the Bible that said good things about Christians, I could confess those scriptures about myself and it would strengthen my faith. So I looked some scriptures up, wrote them down and began confessing them.
Of course one of those scriptures was I John 1:9. Wasn't long before my faith grew enough that when I sinned, and I confessed it, that I believed I was forgiven and cleansed, and could go on with a clean conscience.
Point being, if any of you find your faith lacking from time to time..
So here are a few of my favorite confessions of faith based on what the Word of God say about us in scripture. Blessings, Den.
I John, 1:9 If I confess my sin, (still my first confession as the older we become the more dependent we become on the Lord), God is faithful to forgive me and cleanse me of all unrighteousness.
II Timothy I:7 God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.
I John 4:18 I have the perfect love of God in me, and that perfect love drives out all fear.
John 15:15 I am a friend of Jesus because I do what he has told me to do and that is to love one another.
Romans 5:17 I have received the gift of righteousness and I reign in this life through Christ Jesus. I have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
I Peter 2:9 I have been called in God's marvelous light and I walk in the light of His Spirit, love, and word.
Matt: 6:33 I seek my Father's Kingdom each day and His righteousness and Ephesians 1:3 and Galatians 3:14 I have the blessings of Abraham and all spiritual blessings in heavenly places. All those things the gentiles seek after belong to me!
Galatians 5:24 I am Christ's because I have crucified the flesh with its lusts and affections.
Romans 5:1 I am justified by my faith and have peace with God.
Romans 6:11 I am dead to sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:14 Sin does not have dominion over me, for I am not under the law, but grace.
Romans 8:1 There is no condemnation for me because I walk of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus
Romans 8:14 I am led by the Spirit of God, therefore I am a son of God.
Romans 8:38-39 I believe in Jesus that neither death, life, angels, principalities, powers, things present, or to come can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 53: 4-5, Matt 8:17, I Peter 2:24 By His stripes I was healed.
Romans 10:13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Lord Jesus, I call upon your name this day for salvation and thank you for saving me this day.
Romans 14:17 I walk in the Kingdom of my Father this day which is righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:1 I bear the infirmities of the weak because I am strong in the Lord and the power of His might!
I Corinthians 1:30 Jesus is my wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.
I Corinthians 13:13 Faith, hope, and love abide in me.
I Corinthians 15:58 My labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Isaiah 61:3 I am a tree of righteousness, the planting of the Lord.
