Prayer and praise
Yesterday I went to the dentist. I knew it was going to be bad. I have never had dental insurance and never a lot of money to pay for extras. Well, I left the dentist office on the verge of tears! Almost $9,000 in work needed. Now, I know that some of it can wait but much of it will only get worse if I continue to let it go. My son suggested that I check into dental insurance and see if it would be beneficial. I suggested that he adopt me and put me on his good insurance but not sure how that would work!
So, I was checking into a low cost insurance and found that Etna has a discount plan that is accepted by my dentist. At the very least it will discount the total by over a thousand and as much as half and only cost me about $120 to join the discount plan. I wanted to wait until tomorrow to call the dentist and make sure it worked with them. Then, I was on Christianity Oasis late last night and up popped a banner for this exact same dental plan and a coupon code to save 10% on the cost of the plan. Now in the whole scope of things, that is a tiny amount (about $12.00) but somehow it was more than that to me! It just seemed like God's stamp of approval, saying He cares and will be with me in this. I know it's not a big deal and may seem silly to you but it really touched my heart.
My husband is not going to be very supportive of all this dental work. He had all his teeth pulled about 10 years ago and won't even wear the dentures we got for him. I'm sure he thinks I should just do the same! I'm more vain than that, I guess! I'm not ready to go the toothless old lady route, yet!
So, I'm praising God for this indication that He's in this with me! Please, if you think of it, say a prayer that He will provide the rest of the money, that my husband isn't too resistant to this and that I tolerate all the trips to the dentist and the pain that I'm sure I'll have to endure! Thanks for listening!

Hi Zinnia,
I wanted to post and say you are not alone in this, I seperated from my wife 2 years ago and didn't think about it but I was on her dental insurance....now I have none and if I get on my dental there is a waiting period before use, I was looking into those online insurances as well and found that while they will cover imeadiately they will only cover 20% of surgery cost
if I read it right, and I sure you are like me in not have a bunch of money to drop on this.
I am in the same boat as you with all this except I have 2 teeth that are almost gone and one into the nerve and they have been hurting something awful this week, I have taken so many ibuprofin it's not even funny.
I also found some info on clinics, Columbus Neighborhood Health Centers, I saw you are from Ohio too, this is in Columbus BUT you may want to look into this in your area as well because they will base things on family size and income as well as deal with people that do not have any insurance, my point is look into this because in the long run we may be better off NOT getting insurance and going to a place such as this and in the end paying even less, you see once you have insurance that may change how they would charge you, I don't know I have not looked deep enough into it to be sure how that would work, I asked the Lord to ease this pain for now because there is just too much going on and you know what...I have only taken a few ibuprofins in the last few days and been able to eat and really been mostly pain free THANK YOU LORD!!! I know I have to deal with it but I just needed some time.
I too have MAJOR work needing done in my mouth, I am so tired of dentist talking me into putting more and more into saving what needs to go, I need all my upper teeth removed and a denture plate as well as some other stuff too so I'm sure mine is going to be a crazy amount like yours.
I pray the Lord shows us both the steps we need to take to resolve these issues so we can eat and smile again
May God bless you and your family in this season of our Lord
merry CHRISTmas

Re: Prayer and praise
Thanks for your reply. I thought about the fact that if I got insurance, I would be on a different rate. I was going to call the dentist and see but got busy at work and by the time I called, they had closed. I'll try again on Monday. I also have a big tooth with only part of it there and it has moments of rearing its ugly head and hurting. Right now, it's sleeping, shhhh! I live in NE Ohio, not sure if we have a dental clinic or not. I'll check into that. I also have the option of setting up an FSA at work which would save some by using pre taxed money. I do have a few options, none of which will take the cost down to $19.95. But I'll keep looking.
Thanks for you reply and hope you also get your smile fixed!!
