We Are Jesus' Love Letter (Pt.III)

Postby Godzchild » Thu Nov 20, 2008 6:15 am

"You...are a letter from Christ."
2 Corinthians 3:3 NIV

Once you know a letter is addressed to you, the question becomes - what does it say? Certain key words in 2 Corinthians stand out: "transformed", "renounced", and "made new!" "We...are being transformed into His likeness" (2 Cor 3:18 NIV). "We have renounced secret and shameful ways" (2 Cor 4:2 NIV). "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" (2 Cor 5:17 NIV).

The message in our letter should make it clear that we're not the people we used to be, because:

(a) Christ has changed us mentally. Being "transformed by the renewing of [our] mind" (Rom 12:2 NIV) we now look at life, ourselves, others, our challenges and options in light of God's thoughts, not ours. We see opportunities where we saw only obstacles, and possibilities where we saw only problems. Minds that were frazzled with worry are now filled with confidence and peace.

(b) Christ has changed us morally. The list of wrongdoers mentioned in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 was a lifestyle all too familiar to us. It includes the immoral, thieves, greedy, drunkards, slanderers, swindlers, etc. Then comes glorious verse 11: "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed...sanctified...justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ" (NIV). He has transformed our character.

(c) Christ has changed us Spiritually. Once we were unable to enjoy His Word, His worship and His ways. Now, alive by His indwelling Spirit, we revel in these things! (See 1 Cor 2:14.)

Your letter should read: 'Jesus changed my life, and if you let Him, He will change yours too!' So today, deliver your love letter to everyone you meet.

Thank you, God's Child . . . God can bring us to what He has for us. So, if He has you plant something . . .

another thingy > there are times on the Net when we are writing to someone who is arguing against us, might misunderstand us, even can misrepresent us and mix up the meanings of our words. So, it can be tempting to struggle to straighten the crooked out, when the reality is how crooked rubber will keep snapping back to crooked and keep twisting exactly the opposite away from us, no matter what we say. And so, we can feel there is no point communicating >

however, I consider there are the guest readers of the conversation > possiby ones who are just reading can understand whatever we write that is clear and right. So, I can make sure I put in what can help anyone who is able to benefit from it (o: There may be other Christians who are reading, who also have been treated like they don't know what they are talking about; so I might put in what can feed and encourage these other ones, while we are reaching to the ones who act impossible (but God is able also to get them to become able to benefit) > "knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." (in 1 Corinthians 15:58)
