Are you satisfied?
Are you satisfied?
Before you found Christ was your life empty, hopeless or worthless? Were you trying to find the answers in everything worldly? Jesus is the “Only” one that can satisfy us. No temporary pleasure is able to satisfy us, because soon, you will start craving more and more. I want to share a story about a woman with found satisfaction, a woman who found Jesus! In (John 4:1-30) v1When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, V2Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) V3He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. V4And he must needs go through Samaria. V5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. V6Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. V7There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, give me to drink.V8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) V9Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. v10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. v11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? v12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? v13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: v14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. V15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, niether come hither to draw. V16 Jesus saith unto her, go, call they husband, and come hither. V17The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: V18 For thou has fad five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. V19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I preceive that thou art a prophet. V20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. V21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. V22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. V23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. V24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. V25The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. V26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. V27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? V28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, V29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? V30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.” This woman tried to find satisfaction in unhealthy relationships and had many husbands (5), and the man she was with then wasn’t her husband. Jesus gave her everlasting water- water that will always satisfy her-that everlasting water is Jesus Himself. Let’s look at some scriptures that talk about satisfaction. (Psalms 91:16) “With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.” and (Psalms 107:9) “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” There is a song that I want to share with you. Its called “Fill my cup Lord”. V1 Like the woman at the well I was seeking For things that could not satisfy: And then I heard my Savior speaking:"Draw from my well that never shall run dry" V2There are millions in this world who are craving The pleasures earthly things afford; But none can match the wondrous treasure. That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord. V3So, my brother, if the things this world gave you Leave hungers that won't pass away, My blessed Lord will come and save you, If you kneel to Him and humbly pray: Chorus Fill my cup Lord,I lift it up, Lord! Come and quench this thirsting of my soul; Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more. Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole! There are two other songs that go together that I’d like to share with you. One is called “Satisfied” the other is “Satisfied with Jesus”.
Satisfied: V1 All my life I had a longing For a drink from some clear spring, That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within. V2 Feeding on the husks around me, Till my strength was almost gone, Longed my soul for something better, Only still to hunger on. V3 Poor I was, and sought for riches, Something that would satisfy, But the dust I gathered round me Only mocked my soul’s sad cry. V4 Well of water, ever springing,
Bread of life so rich and free, Untold wealth that never faileth, My Redeemer is to me. Chorus: Hallelujah! I have found Him Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings, Through His blood I now am saved.” And here is the song “Satisfied in Jesus” V1. Satisfied with Jesus B.B. McKinney .
I am satisfied with Jesus, He has done so much for me: He has suffered to redeem me, He has died to set me free. 2. He is with me in my trials, Best of friends of all is He; I can always count on Jesus, Can He always count on me? 3. I can hear the voice of Jesus,
Calling out so pleadingly, “Go and win the lost and straying;” Is He satisfied with me? 4. When my work on earth is ended, And I cross the mystic sea, Oh, that I could hear Him saying,
“I am satisfied with thee.” Chorus I am satisfied, I am satisfied, I am satisfied with Jesus,
But the question comes to me, As I think of Calvary, Is my Master satisfied with me?”
Is the Master satisfied with you? Think about that, We may be satisfied with the grace and Mercy He has shown us but shouldn’t we earnestly seek to have Jesus satisfied with our lives? Amen
