called
It's odd, but all my life when I heard of someone being called by God, I thought of a minister. I never thought that I could be call by God for something. Being a Sunday school teacher was just something I did because the children voted that they wanted me to be their teacher. Participating in the adult class was something that I naturally do... I can't keep my mouth shut! Praying for the church and ones who need prayer sent up for them was something a Christian does. However, having a calling to do something... well, I never thought of my serving God in that way.
However, a couple years ago my youngest boy was sent to prison for vandalism. He was in the county jail for a year before being sent to prison. While he was in the county( 25 miles away) I would write him a letter every week and visit him once a week. The letters I wrote consisted of scriptures and Bible lessons. It wasn't until I noticed that the guard was giving me special privdleges with him that it dawned on me that he also read the letters. After my son went to prison, I felt I had a chance to not only witness to my son, but to the readers that read his letters. I don't know, but I hope they touched someone. I put my son is God's hands and he has been taken care of. He has a job in the kitchen where the head cook has adopted him and sees that he has plenty of good food to eat.

Re: called
Real,
Wow! What a testimony! You are a blessing to others and I thank God for you. My son will be home in September and he will get to read this. One of my favorite verses, that I have by my computer and look at every day, is Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Sharing your story is his purpose and all thing will work together for good for you. I feel the same way with my son. I don't know what God's purpose is, but I feel deep in my heart he has one.
