Christianity Oasis Forum

Hosted by Saint 701 ... This forum is for the purpose of examining the subject of Grace and its great place in God's work in the body of Christ Jesus of which we are a part. "The Book of Romans" was chosen for the title since that book is so rich in Grace to us, but in no way is this forum limited in examining Grace to only the "Book of Romans."

The Grace Given Us By God To Do Right

Our salvation is of faith, that it may be by grace. Paul elaborates on such in the Book of Romans. He proclaims the wonders of the grace the Blood of Jesus has purchased for us for all time. He calls it the abundant grace. He calls it the gift of righteousness. He says that the grace of God is so powerful we can absolutely reign as a king in this life through it. He says that the grace of God is so powerful that even if we commit many sins, we still live to the justification of life.

But Paul also discusses another side to grace.

Rom.5

1. [21] That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

He explains to us that the grace purchased for us by the Blood of the Cross is so powerful, even though we have committed many sins, grace ultimately wins out over sin. Sooner or later as we apply our faith to believing more and more in God and His abounding abundant grace until we begin to lose our fear of at some point being rejected, and we allow that same grace to begin to transform us into a right doing person.

Some have called this letting go and letting God. Some have called it coming to an end of ourselves where we have become so frustrated with the flesh life, and the worldly life, and the sin life, we give up our life, we surrender everything to God. We accept the fact the God knows best for us, desires the best for us, and longs to give us His best, if we will just back off and let Him.

Such is called a spiritual life. It is a life of prayer, a life of abiding, a life of love of God and each other. It is a life of forgiving others that have wronged us, a life of praying for them good things, a life where that trip to the pro baseball game just doesn't have the same appeal any more. That bar stool and old gang no longer have the same appeal any more. That old excess is gone, and there is a new excess in its place.

We want to go to church! We want to pray! We want to praise God! We want to bless and be a blessing to others however we can. No, sin isn't entirely out of our lives, but it no longer reigns as it once did. Righteousness reigns! We understand that the work of God in us is indeed His work. We are His workmanship. And we trust Him to perform that good work to the end.

It is most certainly far better to die in faith believing, than it is to live in unbelief.
