found a weed

Postby Ruthk34 » Wed Jul 18, 2012 5:25 pm

Today I was at a clients house and my client does not like the person who comes to do her housekeeping. While the housekeeper was in the basement doing laundry my client made a joke about the housekeeper. I didn't comment on it only smiled at her. I realised after I left that it was wrong of me to even smile at the comment. That that smile in itself was just encouraging her to do it again in future. It left me feeling bad about my inaction which is really an action in itself. Looking back this was not the first time I had done that and worse a few times I responded with a comment of my own. I have asked the Lord for forgiveness and I will not do it again. The hard part for me will be when I find myself in the situation again, to know what to say to let the lady know that I do not want to talk about that again. Wording it will be a challenge for me because I don't want to offend her and she is deaf so I have to write it down on a white board so long winded explanations don't go well as it would take too long, not to mention not having enough room to write it.

So the weed I found was my inaction and unkind words spoken in the past. This weed was a quiet one that I hadn't noticed before but became aware of since coming closer to the Lord. I pray for forgiveness and the strength to rip this weed out by the roots so it doesn't come back again.Amen.

Next time maybe you could write, " Everyone has some good in them. She is one of God's creations." Not knowing her, it is hard to say. After I retired from teaching, I worked for a home care company and I always took my Bible along. That was a visiable signal that I was a Christian and people ususally respected that. I had a couple older people that wanted me to read the Bible to them. I could not "preach" to them, but if they asked.... well, I wasn't doing anything illegal.
