question about your purpose in life
You know how God had plans for our lives even before we were born. And since we all were born after the death and resurection of our Lord, I am sure all our purposes add to the telling of the Gospel. Some are called to do this and some that, etc.
Now, my question is, since I got saved 24 yrs ago and messed up for hmmm 23 of those yrs and now that I am finally getting serious about God taking the wheel of my life....I am confused about my purpose. I have read some testimonies where ppl knew right away what the Lord had wanted them to do with their lives. But me, I never knew....hadn't a clue and still don't. I don't even know what "gifts" I have to contribute to spreading the Gospel. Can't carry a tune or play music. Not a leader. Not a ppl person (social butterfly). I am just a quiet mellow individual. Not gifted financially (opposite) and don't have charisma. I don't know what I was supposed to do before I wandered away from God so how do I know now?
Suppose God had something in mind and I blew it....you know like Plan A (God's will for Tracy's life). Well, what if I blew plan A? Is there a Plan B? And if so, how would one go about finding it in the midst of picking up the pieces from a messed up life?
Any suggestions?

Hi Tracy!!
God bless you, Sister, and the wonderful probing journey you're on. What great questions!! I have a couple of pretty specific thoughts . . .
As to people immediately clear and absolute about what their purpose is, I actully start off somewhat concerned for those folks. From my experience, God works somewhat subtly and gradually in our lives. If someone is THAT sure, I can't help wondering if it is really God's will or their own leading the way. I know that kind of clarity may come on occassion, but it certainly hasn't been the case in my experience, and I wouldn't worry if it is not the case in yours.
As to your spiritual gifts, I'm going to challenge you that you have no idea what they might be. From what you said, it sounds to me like you're looking at what you admire in other people, and you're wondering why you don't have the gifts that you admire in them. You are unique and special. God made you the loved creature you are. And, yes, my dear, you absolutely do have gifts from God. The Bible assures us of that fact. You just need to embrace and employ the ones you have, not marvel at the ones He's given others.
Finally, about you blowing what God's plan and purpose for you is. Love you, Sis, but GET OVER YOURSELF!! No matter how bad we blow it, we could never be more bad than God is good!! He always and forever has the ability to utilize whatever circumstances we've brought about or fallen into in our life -- no matter how awful -- for His good. Not a Plan A or Plan B issue; just God's infinite ability to care for His children and see His purpose fulfilled. THERE ARE NO MISSED OPPORTUNITIES when it comes to God. He is right there each and every minute, arms wide open, just waiting for us to come back home. His purpose is never exhausted and never thwarted -- He is all power. He just has to be patient with us!! And, fortunately for us, He IS!! Infinitely so!!

I agree with DSC completely, we can never know what god has in store for us and he can bring us out of any difficult situation we find ourselves in.
For me I would like to hope that the difficult situation I found myself in was indeed his plan, that somehow my life going to pot had some purpose behind it. Even if that wasn't the reason to begin with I find myself in a place where I want to share what god has done with me. I find myself wanting to find people who are in a situation with dire need for help and share with them how god pulled me out of circumstances that I thought had no way out.
As for a life plan that god has for me, well I know what I want out of life but that doesn't mean it's what I'm going to get. All I know is I want to spend my life seeking out gods will and doing it what ever that may be.

Dear Tracy, i cannot be sure what He has planned for me ahead..thats is why we need faith..to believe in His promises that all things will work out for His purpose..all i know is He certainly wants me to share His love towards others in every opportunity He given us..well, as mellow type of person, theres nothing wrong with that..i am too..He created everyone in a unique way..that could make a person to be a great listener..cuz sometimes ppl just want to be listened to..and just by being u, could be a great blessing for ppl around u..here in Oasis is a good start for u..and u are aredi a blessing for being here whether u know it or not..its not what we do tht make us acceptable..having a relationship with Jesus Christ n believe in His Words is matter most..since God is perfect, if His acceptance of us is based on what we do, then we cannot make mistake at all n tht wud become really a burden that God does not wants us to carry..remember, ur right to stand before God n be acceptable is through Christ..dun give up sis, keep asking for His guidance in everything u do..love ya!
