Day 4 - Stepping Stone 4
It seems appropriate that Stepping Stone 4 would build upon, or be necessary to Stone 3. The Grace I could not accept was because I could not forgive and Stone 4 is alllll about forgiveness.
I realize that it is very important to do the Steps in order, that fruition of the instruction take place...but I may have to break the 14 day cycle. I am currently seeking counceling (a new councelor, in fact) to help me deal with some issues that persist from when I was in the military. My councelor has no idea what she's in for, except "a damaged veteran." We all come with our own "battle wounds."
Forgiving myself is the most difficult. All the "should haves" come back 10-fold, along with the anger and the hurt. Rather sad that they don't teach the councelors how to impart "coping skills"...at least from my experience.
I will pray on this. It's kind of like Yoda, "Do or do not. There is no "try."

Re: Day 4 - Stepping Stone 4
Honeybee your words reflect some of my own story. Seeing a new counselor myself for my own "battle wounds." From my experience I suggest you make sure this new one is capable of helping you learn to calm down and relax before you even begin the process or it could be painfully disastrous. If you don't feel they are trained enough to handle your issues I suggest you seek someone with more training. Said from personal experience.
I assume you've found some coping skills? And are applying them? You seem to have a huge desire for healing which will help you greatly along this path.
Take God with you into these sessions. Pray continually. And feel free to journal here about your counseling. Even if you must stop the steps for some time you are still welcome to journal your progress. I would love to hear how you're doing. Maybe we can share advice on coping skills and such.
I see your strength but I know you must be so tired of the battle. Stay strong. Keep running the race till the end. He'll see you through if you keep seeking Him. Praying for you.

Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.
