Day ten

Postby Christine_RL » Fri Jul 29, 2011 6:13 pm

I need to work a lot on becoming more persistent in my prayers, as much as I need to remove the bad weeds and replace them with good thoughts. Those bad weeds don't give up too easily, so every day I need to remember good thoughts to fight off all those negative ones. I need to meditate on those good thoughts and scriptures so they become ingrained within me and they overcome those bad thoughts. It is not easy or comfortable to adjust to when those weeds have been habitual. Each time I learn a new positive thought or meditate on a new scripture, those negative thoughts try to get back in.

One portion of lesson 10 that really resonated with me that I could read it over and over is:
A child may move away, you may lose your job, a loved one may even die. These things seem extreme at first, but if you pray for the wisdom to understand God’s plan, you’ll find the blessing that He intends.

I need wisdom to understand God's plan.

Today I read this devotion written by Roy Lessin:

There is...

For every hectic work day there is a quiet rest...

For every painful experience there is a healing touch...

For every negative feeling there is an abiding joy...

For every disappointment there is a certain hope...

For every turbulent storm there is a sure foundation...

For every doubting thought there is a calm assurance...

For every hurtful action there is a forgiving love.

In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37

For every doubting thought there is a calm assurance, for every doubting thought there is a calm assurance......
All things are possible to one who believes. ~ St. Bernard of Clairvaux
