Its about more than just black history
Its about fellowship and unity
I take a look back to the past
When Dr King said ''We are free at last.''

Free from the bondage of segregation
It was such a tragic situation
Hatred and bigotry in the hearts of men
Atrocities committed again and again

But Dr King said ''I have a dream''
Despite how dark the times did seem
He never lost hope or lost his desire
He spoke words of truth with fervor and fire

His words still ring true through the years
With a passion that often moves me to tears
He spoke a message of love and of peace
Of an oppressed people who longed for release

There were many other who made their mark
Like Jesse Jackson and Rosa Parks
Countless others that cant be named
But their efforts were noble just the same

So lets come together as we should
In Godly love and brotherhood
Let's give our thanks to the God we know
For all those who worked to make it so
