most of yall know that i gots me a lil doggie. some call it a rat but dont ask me what it is cause i cant spell it at all.

well my lil doggie has angry issues he is always wanting to bite people and mom has been sayin if he dont strighten up she is gonna get rid of him or kick us both out since she knows i wont let him go. i mean he is my baby boy and i know sometimes he makes me mad but i love him. i've tryed to disapline him even when he was little but now he is to where he dont listen to me at all only sometimes and when he knows he is in trouble he runs and hides or trys to bite me. what am i to do?

Our animals bring such blessings. It sounds like your doggie needs a lil help. IDK if you know where it comes from (like if people taught puppy that or other things happened before you got him). IDK if you can afford it but a dog trainer could probably help ( i don't mean one of those dog training classes at Petsmart, more like a personal dog trainer). One problem is if doggie has already bitten someone. Though i wanna say that I DO think there is a difference between doggie nipping someone (not breaking the skin) cuz some doggies are bred as herding doggies and it is in their blood to nip (they used to nip sheep to keep em all together) BUT if doggie has broken skin then you will be faced with a difficult decision.

sanna has broght blood to my step dad and sister . i dont want to have to get rid of him i'll miss him to much. i was hoping he would grow out of it when he got older

I'm praying for ya Habibi and ur lil doggie. I know how much love mine bring into my life. I know it is a difficult decision to face and i know when it comes to my doggies sometimes those are the hardest to make. Will keep u in prayers.

hey hab, is he neutered? that helps alot with boy dogs. also, instead of punishing for bad behavior, reward the good more... redirect his thoughts if you see a negative reaction coming. tie him to you with a leash when you are home so you can see him and control him. lock him in a crate when not home. get him motivated and tired with walks or activities.... like learning new tricks. again, a favorite treat is great modivator.

those rat dogs can be snippy. think they have to prove something... friend had one and she would lock him in her room and say, "don't bite me don't bite me" as she went in. wouldn't let him out when I was over.

He loves to walk and ride in the car Just been to hot ourside for walks here. And my family really dont like me being outside when it's late at night. doggie treats costs alot and he likes to hide them when i do get the money for them. very protective of his hiding spots. mostly in the bath room and living room chairs. i've been putting him in the cage when ever he does something bad like the other day he used the bath room on the chair so i pointed and said bad. he went in the cage himself cause it opened. so i closed the door and locked it and he growled at me It doesnt help when i am the only one doing the training no one else helps even when i asked theirs alot of times i aint home to do things with him.

Hi, how old is your doggie now? Just wondering because we had a terrible time with our puppy up until like the last 3-4 months. We got her May 2010 and she was already 3 months old. She was awful with the chewing and nipping and worse with the potty training. They do grow out of the nipping. They usually don't hurt people on purpose when they are so young. But they are like children and you have to correct them.

Have you tried cage training? That's what we ended up doing and guess what? It worked! Takes a while, but no worries. They learn to think of the cage as their room. (hopefully it's the right size for your dog) You can google 'cage training' but the bottom line is keeping them in the cage most of the day, bringing them out to go potty outside, back inside for playtime, back in the cage for a while, then rinse and repeat. Soon, you will be able to keep it out of the cage for longer periods of time.

I hated the thought of caging ours bc it seemed cruel. But she really enjoys going in her cage to chill out. (or to get away from the big dog whom she prolly terrorized in the first place. Silly doggie.) She's hardly had an accident in the last several months and Skrubby is testing her at night to see if it goes well out of the cage. Yeah, takes a long time, but we didn't start the real cage training until last October.

Good treats do not need to be expensive. My dog loves...absolutely loves bacon. I will fry some up, break it in tiny (really tiny) pieces and put in refrigerator in baggie. Hot dog cut in tiny pieces (doesn't have to be cooked first) cheese in tiny pieces (but have to be careful not to give too much) work too. (never chocolate or grapes, they are poison to dogs)
If I want to work on obedience training with my pup, I will use the bacon bits and she is running to obey. Even trying to do what she thinks I want before I ask... .

Thing about doing potty inside (clean with enzymes made for it like Nature's Miracle) is unless you catch them doing it at that moment, they will not associate it as being bad. That was why I said you need to crate him when you are not home and keep him tied to you when you are. Is it a pain, yes but you can then keep an eye on him all the time and reward the good. You locking him in the crate did nothing because he went in there himself, not because he knew he was bad. And he still showed you that he was considering himself pack leader because he growled at you.

The good treat is ONLY given when he does something good... never just because. Start out by giving him piece of tasty so he knows it's there. Then start with easy commands like sit so knows if he does, he gets yummy. If he doesn't want to, DO NOT GIVE IT TO HIM. He has to earn it. If he growls, he gets correction (pull on collar... in this case, choke chain or martingale may work best) and firm no. Remember, he is tied to you so you do not have to grab at him or chase him. If he still fights, then some time out in crate and ignore him. He will learn that he is not pack leader.

You will have to be firm and stay with it, but in the long run, it will be worth it.

Well recently I been trying the cage training a lil. i thought it was cruel when he was a pup i guess it took a few years of him acting out to get a lil firm with him. he is like my baby ya know...

well the cage training seems to be doing some god deetu. i got to where i say bad when he done something bad and he goes striaght in the cage. i dont have to lock it cause he thinks it's locked so he dont even think about trying to get out. i also been praicting with him going into the cage even when he dont do anything i just say get in the cage and he lays down. i just shut the door and he stays put. he gets a reward sometimes not everytime. i also heard giving a dog hotdogs isnt good for them cause i asked sanna's dog groomer about it and she said not to.

when i am home sanna sticks to me like glue when i am in the living room. even right now sitting at the computer desk he lays here under my feet curled up in a ball sleeping. i think he is doing better. Old dogs do learn new tricks hehe. But i'm proud of his progress.

we also been doing some evening walks now that it's gotton cooler sanne loves them. we go to the party shop and get drinks i get him water and me a soda. maybe in the fall we will start going to the college track and walk with other doggies and humans. sanna loves attention from the women, but not the men idk why. guess my dog is a ladies dog not men. usally the people he dont like i wont go around. i think he gets that good sence from my uncle and me. they say a dog has the same attatude as their owner who teached them
