When my life was in a mess and I needed answers, I found that using my bible to pray helped me understand who Jesus was and why he loved me.
I found truths to bring me out of the pit I was in, reassurance that God cared about what was happening to me and that He wanted to help.
But, I'll warn you ... it took some effort on my part as well. Anything worthwhile takes effort. I so needed the change-- I was sick, depressed, poor and afraid. I was desperate.
I found promises that God had a plan of good for my life. Promises that God knew all about me, and wanted to have a relationship with me.
For all this, I needed to totally trust Him. Anyone who's been hurt knows this is hard ... and most people have been hurt, me included.
So, how did it happen?
I made a choice. I decided to believe every word that He said. I chose to see it all as the ultimate truth. It's a decision that has never failed me, because I have learned to look at what He says and not my situation.
Prayer is conversation with God, and prayer using your bible is conversation that brings God into your situation and changes things. Using His word plus your faith in Jesus' sacrifice brings amazing results.
God is waiting for you to talk to Him.
Make a choice today to believe Him and what He says. Then don't look back, because God doesn't.
He's too busy planning your future - with Him.
Open your heart and your Bible, and pray.
