The Body of Christ Bible Verses Quest

Let's look at John, Chapter 6 verses 32-66 and discern together, what the Lord is sharing with us concerning the Body of Christ Bible meaning.

John 6:32-65

32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from Heaven; but my Father giveth you the true Bread from Heaven.
33 For the Bread of God is He which cometh down from Heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I Am the Bread of Life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from Heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which He hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of Him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
41 The Jews then murmured at Him, because He said, I am the bread which came down from Heaven. [So what else is new? They are always seeking ways to prevent the truth from being exposed. Back to the Body of Christ Communion Bible study on the Body of Christ Bible verses ...]
42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from Heaven?
43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save He which is of God, He hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the Bread which cometh down from Heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living Bread which came down from Heaven: if any man eat of this Bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us His flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them [concerning the The Body of Christ Communion,] Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
[This is the Truth they sought to keep hidden. Let's return to the Body of Christ Bible study on the Body of Christ Bible verses ...]
58 This is that bread which came down from Heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 Many therefore of His disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew in Himself that his disciples murmured at it, He said unto them, Doth this offend you? [They did not understand the Spiritual aspect of The Body of Christ Communion.]
62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where He was before?
63 It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
[See? The Body of Christ Bible study is sharing insight into the Spiritual view of the Body of Christ Bible verses. Back to the Body of Christ Communion story ...]
64 But, there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray Him.
65 And He said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

The Body of Christ Bible Verses Fear

Then something happened that would change the fate of many souls. They chose not to believe and not partake of the Body of Christ Communion.

John 6:66

From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.

Kinda weird huh?

John 666

Why do ya suppose many of His followers took off? It is because they understood Jesus from a carnal point of view as compared to the Spiritual point of view. They thought He meant they were to actually eat His flesh and drink His blood. These Words that Jesus shared came to pass and became a ritual of sorts, started by Jesus and the Apostles ... It is known as the Lord's Supper.

Matthew 26:26-28

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
27 And He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
28 For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

And the name of this Christian ritual is now called ... Blood and Body of Christ Communion aka the Body of Christ Communion.

1 Corinthians 10:16

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?

Bread and Wine were used to symbolize His Body and His Blood. Let us look into this. What do you believe that Jesus means by bread?

Matthew 16:6-12

6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.
7 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.
8 Which when Jesus perceived, He said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
9 Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
10 Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
11 How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

12 Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

The Body of Christ Bible Verses Hope

So, if Jesus said the leaven was the bad that was within the Pharisee's doctrine, then the bread which the leaven was placed within is the Doctrine. The Bread that being spoken of is the Word of God. What is the Word of God?

John 1:1-3

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.

Now, we will take the Body of Christ Bible study detour ... Let's substitute the words "the Word" with "Jesus" and see if it makes more sense to you.

In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. The same [Jesus] was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.

What is a word? It is an expression. The expression of God in physical form. Jesus is the physical, verbal and written expression of God.

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and TRUTH.

JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD.

Jesus has made it clear that we need the Word of God as to be able to live.

Matthew 4:3-4

3 And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But, He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

So, it is obvious from the Body of Christ Bible verses that Jesus was saying that we should partake of Him, which is God's Word ...

The Spiritual Bread from Heaven, Jesus !!!

Just as physical Bread satisfies the flesh, the Spiritual Bread satisfies the soul. Ok ... We now understand the facts from the Body of Christ Bible study how the Bread represents the Body of Christ. What about the Blood? Here is the Body of Christ Communion truth concerning the Blood of Christ ...

The blood of Jesus is very significant in our lives.

1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Blood has always been used to make atonement for sins

Leviticus 17:11

For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Time for the Body of Christ Communion field trip ... The story goes all the way back to the Israelites' exodus from Egypt, and a celebration called Passover.

The Hebrews were enslaved in Egypt for over 400 years and the Lord saw their affliction and heard the cries of His people, so He sent Moses to bring the children of Israel out of Egypt

Exodus 3:7-10

7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, didn't want to let the people of Israel go, so God sent plagues upon Egypt, but Pharaoh was stubborn and wouldn't heed God's commandment to free them. The tenth and last plague that the Lord brought upon Egypt in those days, was that every firstborn of Egypt, both man and beast, would die.

In order to save His chosen people alive while the destroyer went through Egypt, the children of Israel were to bring in an unblemished lamb on the 10th day of the 1st month of the Jewish calendar and keep this lamb for 4 days. Then on the 14th day of the first month, the Israelites were to kill their lamb and place the Blood of the lamb on their homes so that death (the destroyer) would pass over them.

Later, Moses would sprinkle the people with blood to bring for the Covenant between God and the Israelites.

Exodus 24:8

And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.

Here is the Body of Christ Bible study tidbit of truth ... (They did not and were not prepared for the visit from their Messiah) To celebrate their freedom, they were told to do this every year after that as it would become a Holy Day, and the celebration was called Passover. The Body of Christ Communion was to be performed.

This event was a shadow of an event to come ... The death of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Colossians 2:16-17

16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

See the Feast Shadow Study to better understand the reference to passover being a shadow of events to come. But be sure to return to this study.

Feast Shadow Study

Soon after God's people were free and journeying through the wilderness on their way to the Promised Land, the Old Testament was established with the children of Israel.

The Body of Christ Communion trivia ... What is a testament and how is it established? Well, just like with a will and testament, it is a covenant that is put into effect when the testator dies ... or with the shedding of blood. The Blood of the old covenant came from sacrifices. The people brought sacrifices to the priest, and Moses sprinkled the Blood of the sacrifices on the people to cleanse them of their sins. After the original covenant was made, different sacrifices were made daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.

By and by, mankind turned away from the laws of God, so much so, that all the sacrificing in the world wouldn't cleanse away the sin, so God sent Jesus, who through the shedding of His blood, brought in the New Testament.

New Covenant Study

We find in the Body of Christ Bible study truth that no more sacrifices are needed, but simply by believing in Jesus' life, death and resurrection, and that He is the Son of God, we need only repent and our sins are forgiven.

We are sprinkled (cleansed) by the blood of Jesus.

The Body of Christ Communion Promise
The Body of Christ Bible Verses On Blood

Just as the shadow reflected, the sacrifice of Jesus' blood happened during the feast of Passover. Jesus, known as the Lamb of God, without blemish (sin), came into Jerusalem on the 10th day of the 1st month and was with the people for 4 days. He was killed by the choice of His own people on the 14th day of the first month, just as the Jewish people were celebrating the Passover. We are saved by the Blood of the Lamb. We have redemption by the blood of Jesus.

Colossians 1:14

In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins ...

At the Last Supper Jesus confirmed this when He gave the Apostles the cup of wine, (known as the cup of eternal salvation) and said:

Matthew 26:28

For this is my Blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

It is obvious from the Body of Christ Communion Scripture that we are to share this most important message of having communion.

1 Corinthians 11:24-26

24 And when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, This cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till He come.

The Body of Christ Communion Saves
The Body of Christ Bible Verses on Jesus

There has been division within the Body of Christ on the Communion issue dating way back. Just as Paul was forced to address this issue ...

1 Corinthians 11:18-22

18 For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's Supper.
21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

The Body of Christ Bible study warning ... They were performing the Last Supper ritual incorrectly, using it as a time to eat dinner and get drunk as compared to Jesus' wishes:

"For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till He come."

Paul continues ...

1 Corinthians 11:27-29

27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

DAMNATION?

It is also obvious that we must share this TRUTH as to protect those of the Body of Christ who participate in the Communion. There is no question that many will turn up their noses at the ideology of Communion. Partaking of the Blood and Body of Christ ... By way of a cracker or bread and wine. Just like they did with Jesus when He spoke of this matter:

John 6:66

From that time many of His disciples went back, and walked no more with Him.

But, they understand not that these are merely symbols of the Blood and Body of Christ. God honors the intent of the heart. Paul shares this lil tidbit with the Christians (incidentally, who are also referred to as the Body of Christ) of the Lord's Supper.

1 Corinthians 10:16-17

16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

In participating in the Lord's Supper, we are declaring that we are in communion with Christ. It also symbolizes that those partaking of the Communion are one ...

The Body of Christ!

More of the Body of Christ Bible study trivia ... I ask you, is it the physical act of consecrating of bread and wine that removes your sins, or was it the act of Jesus dying on the cross, that takes away the sins of the world, once for all?

I ask you, is it the physical act of consecrating of bread and wine which unified the Body of Christ at the Lord's Supper (First Communion) or was it the gathering together in a common love for the Lord.

The Body of Christ Communion Conclusion
The Body of Christ Bible Verses Summary

We have also learned that the Communion is the perfect occasion to remind us that Jesus died for us and to confess our sins and be forgiven daily.

I will close this study by sharing something with you that the Apostle Paul said ...

Hebrews 13:20

Now the God of Peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting Covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The Body of Christ communion is not only a physical event. The Body of Christ communion is spiritual as well. The Body of Christ communion is communing within the Body of Christ. And literally partaking of the Holy Spirit.
