We can place the blame on ourselves or pass it off on others.

Sometimes it is both.

But, we must choose to forgive all as our Lord asked of us and that includes ourselves.

The truth is ...

When you forgive those who have caused you pain, it goes against what your enemy, the devil, wants. It is the will of the enemy to hold you captive in the realm of unforgiveness.

Even unforgiveness of yourself.

Christ died so that you can be forgiven and so the rest of the world can be forgiven too.

Don't let His death be in vain. Resist the words that the devil whispers.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

You see how your offender was only a pawn in this spiritual battle.

This person was overcome by the enemy and made horrible choices which affected you.

But, it is God's job to judge. Not ours. Vengeance is His.

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

It is God's will for us to pray for those who harm us, our enemies.

Mathew 5:43-48

43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in Heaven: for He maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

Don't you just love the feel of the squishy cold sand under your feet. So soothing to the body and soul. The waves are larger today with white tops. Must be a storm coming in.

Speaking of storms, let's talk for a moment about the storms in your mind when the triggers go off.

You know them to well don't ya?

They come out of no where, hitting you like a ton of bricks.

A dozen flashes of the past, within just a few seconds passing through your mind.

Stopping your every movement.

Even your breathing changes.

As if it's happening right then and there all over again.

Your spirit cries, "Make it stop! Make it stop!" but the pictures continue, tormenting you all over again.

You want to run. You want to hide.

Adrenaline is pumping through your veins as you seek where do you go to stay safe.

Even though, you are safe. There really is nothing there to harm you.

Only the visions going through your mind, that leave you exhausted. Yet at those moments, when the visions are flashing, no one could convince you that you are safe and that nothing is going to happen. You won't give over control. After all that's that was taken. Was control over your very own body. Feels like there is nothing more that could be taken.

I have some good news for you.

They didn't take it all. Remember I shared about how your soul was not touched. The inner most place that God claims as so very valuable that He died on the Cross so He could be joined together with that part of you, in Heaven one day.

Yeah. That's the part he didn't take. The soul is still there. Unharmed. Untouched.

Just encaged.

Could be a gun, because he had a gun. Could be a gravel road, because that's where he took you. Could be a room in your own home or a home you visit.

Could be many things ... A scene in a movie, a song, a certain drink, a certain cigarette smoke, a style of car, or a type of furniture ... The list goes on.

We must gain control of our reactions to these triggers.

Now ... I'm not saying that we can ever completely avoid these things.

They seem to pop up unexpectedly, leaving you trembling and trying to grasp at normalcy so others don't notice your struggle that is going on within.

I'm saying to know what will cause you to trigger and react.

They can only control you IF you let them.

You DO have the choice to fight and not choose flight.

It isn't easy to stop letting them from negatively affecting your spirit if you've been allowing them to for a while.

What is the ole cliché?

Old habits are hard to break.

Yet it is possible to take control of what is going on inside of your own mind.

It takes work. It's a learned process of Faith in Him and renewing the mind to experience the Christian healing from rape.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

2 Corinthians 10:5

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

You have to be willing to work at this.

You have to be determined.

Let's stop for a moment and watch these kids making a sand castle.

See the little boy getting a bucket of water. He's going to fill up the bucket for the moat they've made. He's filled the bucket to full. It's to heavy. He struggles to lift it. He tried to drag it. He makes it two steps before a wave pushes him back again. He's frustrated and wants to give up. Two more steps and a wave knocks him off balance. He falls backwards back into the water, loosing the bucket. He searches for his bucket and tries again. He looks like he has given up and calls for help.

But, the others are too busy adding their finishing touches to their castle, to hear him. He wants someone to carry the bucket for him.

Is he going to give up or keep trying?

He struggles again to lift it. The bucket slips out of his small hands. He is just to weak to pick it up. He stops and looks at his friends on the shore line. He looks at the bucket. You can see determination growing in him. He tries again. Another wave knocks him down. This time when he gets up he seems so determined he's almost angry. He grabs the bucket of water and drags it, step by step, bracing against the waves. Fighting the entire way. He won't give up. He's made it to the shore line, where all his friends come running over to help him.

He made it.

They dump the bucket into the moat and watch with glee as the water flows around the mote surrounding their castle.

Their cheers bring a smile to our faces.

Many attempts repeated will complete any task before us.

We can move mountains through faith in Him thru us !!!

That determination is what you need.

You are not going to get over this by hiding within your castle.

You have to choose to fight for what you want.

A mind at peace. It is worth the hard work.

In the end, you'll be glad you did.

Walk with me away from the shore.

Where the sand dunes are. Standing at the top of the dune we can see the shore line for miles. What a beautiful view from up here. There's a gentle breeze, so cooling and refreshing. As if it's bringing in a change.

Lets walk to the next dune.

I know it's a difficult climb. The sand is so soft we sink in making it even more difficult. The tall stiff sand grass has sharp edges and scratches our legs. With lots of effort we've made it to the next dune. It feels like we are in a desert. So silent and still. Completely alone. The first dune has hidden the lake out of sight. The people, and all their beach gear. The seagulls don't fly here. There is nothing here for them. They circle the beach where they can snatch someone's snack or a fish that has come to close to the surface. The dunes go on and on, one after another.

As if there is no end.

Life is a little like these dunes. Up and down. The up hill climbs are difficult seeming like you might not make it at times. Small things in life seem to scratch at you like the tall stiff sand grass. Then things get a bit easier as you head down hill, and then another trial to climb. Sometimes you can feel all alone out there as you are going through life.

The past has warped and used these emotions to control you.

Have you found Him. Have you felt him? He lives just beneath the surface.

Calling you from within.

Longing for you to stop and take time out of your busy day to seek Him. To reach for Him. He is there. Waiting. For you to call His name. For you to come seeking Him.

He has been there all along. Feeling what you feel. Sensing what you sense. Harboring what is within these chambers of your soul. He knows you. He has been with you from the beginning.

What ever you/they told you was wrong.

The names you/they called you were lies.

The world is famous for treating others in ways they do not deserve.
