The Feasts of Israel Prophecy

We find the Feasts of Israel shared with us in the Book of Leviticus, chapter 23 which explains the Sabbath day as well as the 7 Feasts of the Lord, which are the Feast of Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of the Firstfruits, the Feast of the Harvest, the Feast of Trumpets, the Feast of the Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.

These celebrations and feasts of Israel were to be performed on Holy Days. In fact, the Israelites were told, by God through Moses, to honor specific days each year, every year as a remembrance. You will soon discover from our captivating 7 Feasts of the Lord Chart adventure that the Feasts of Israel which God had the Israelites celebrate each year were and are actually prophecy of coming events which are called, shadows of things to come.

Colossians 2:16-17

Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; ...

7 Feasts of the Lord Chart Calendar

The Feasts of Israel Chart Secret

The Jewish Calendar is a bit tricky and peculiar so it is best to be careful when using it. The Jewish calendar has two distinct starting points ... Kinda like having two New Years. They are on the first and seventh month. Keeping this in mind, let us proceed with the Feasts of Israel Bible study.

To help you to understand the Feast Shadows prophecy of the 7 Feasts of the Lord, let's start off with the Feast Shadow known as:

The Sabbath

Work Six Days, Rest on the Seventh

As we delve deeper in to the Feasts of Israel Bible study, we find that the Bible says that God worked six days ... Genesis, Chapter 1, and on the seventh day, He rested, Genesis 2:2. God also made this law apply to His people. They were to:

  • Work six days and rest on the seventh, Exodus 20:9-10.
  • And six years thou shalt sow thy land, and shall gather in the fruits thereof, Exodus 23:10.
  • If His people had a servant or slave, they were to work six years and be set free the seventh year, Exodus 21:2.
  • God's people were also to sow in the land and gather fruits for six years but not on the seventh, Leviticus 25:3-4.
  • Even Jesus, when He was put on the Cross, hung there six hours, and died at the beginning of the seventh hour, Mark 15:25 and Mark 15:34-37.

7 Feasts of the Lord Chart and Sabbath

The Feasts of Israel Chart on Millennium

We see a pattern created by God. There are six time periods of work and one time period of rest.

Day of Rest

The Bible says that after the End Times, there is a one thousand year period of time, known as the "Millennium" (one thousand years) which Satan is imprisoned and there is a time of peace for mankind.

Revelation 20:3-4

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the Word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

One Thousand Years = One Day to God

2 Peter 3:8

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Psalms 90:4

For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

Now, let us do a little simple math:

If God says that ... Mankind shall work six days and rest on the seventh, And one thousand years to man is but one day to God, And there is a one thousand year time period known as the Millennium, Then mankind must "work" for six days or six thousand years and rest for one thousand years.

So, this Holy Day called Sabbath is a Shadow of the event known as the Millennium.

Below is the Feasts of Israel Chart foundation table that will show you how we'll be studying the other feast shadows, to make them easier to understand and reference between.

3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it He had rested from all His work which God created and made.

Exodus 20:8-10
(The Fourth Commandment)

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God:

The Feasts of Israel Chart Predicts Future Events

This particular shadow sign is studied more in depth in this 7 Feasts of the Lord Chart study:

Now that you get the idea of what a Holy Day shadow is from the Feasts of Israel Bible study thus far ... You are now going to learn just how cool God is by the way He uses prophecy to prepare us for certain future events.

There is a feast and celebration in Israel known as Passover.

Leviticus 23:5

In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD's Passover.

Exodus 12:3-6

3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:
4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

Let's take a Feasts of Israel Bible study field trip ... You have probably heard the story of how this celebration came about, but do not realize it. It is the story of the great exodus from Egypt (Book of Exodus). After God had plagued the Egyptians for not letting His people go, Moses told the Jewish people that the Angel of death was coming to kill all the first born of Egypt and in order for the Israelites to protect their first born children from this Angel of death, they needed to place lamb's blood on their homes for the Angel of death to pass over them. It was called ...

Passover

In this Feast of Israel celebration, they were to bring in an unblemished lamb on the tenth day of the first month of the Jewish calendar and keep this lamb for four days. Then on the fourteenth day of the first month the Israelites would kill their lamb and place the Blood of the Lamb on their homes to save themselves. They were told to do this every year and was called Passover.

This Feast of Israel celebration was a shadow of an event to come ... Jesus' Death

Jesus, known as the Lamb without sin, came into Jerusalem on the tenth day of the first month and stayed for four days. He was slain (like the lamb was) on the fourteenth day of the first month just as the Jewish people were celebrating Passover.

His blood, like the blood on those doors, can now save you. It is because of God's Love and Grace which you will soon understand as we continue on our 7 Feasts of the Lord expedition.

There is a feast and celebration in Israel known as First Fruits which was three days after Passover where the Jewish people were to offer an he lamb without blemish as a sacrifice to their Lord.

Leviticus 23:10-14

10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest:
11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the priest shall wave it.
12 And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord.
13 And the meat offering thereof shall be two tenth deals of fine flour mingled with oil, an offering made by fire unto the Lord for a sweet savour: and the drink offering thereof shall be of wine, the fourth part of an hin.
14 And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

You will now learn from the Feasts of Israel Bible study that this celebration was a major shadow of an event to come on the 7 Feasts of the Lord Chart.

Jesus' Resurrection

Three days after Jesus, the He Lamb without sin (blemish) was killed, He was Resurrected on Sunday morning as our spiritual sacrifice. God used Jesus as that He Lamb because there were not enough sheep in all the world to atone for their sins.

It does not stop there ... Did you know that there is a celebration known as Pentecost which was exactly fifty days after the First Fruits celebration.

Leviticus 23:15-16

15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the Lord.

It was when there was an offering of fire made unto the Lord.

This event was a shadow of an event to come ...

Jesus stayed forty days after He Resurrected and then was taken up to Heaven. It was ten days after that when the Holy Spirit would introduce Himself, which would make it fifty days from the day Jesus was resurrected. On this day about one hundred twenty believers in Jesus encountered the Holy Spirit which gave them gifts such as the ability to speak in tongues and they saw tongues of fire come upon them.

Acts 2:2-4

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

It is also written that John the Baptist told his followers that they were being baptized with water but would one day be baptized with fire, referring to the Holy Spirit.

The Feasts of Israel Bible study reveals that even Jesus' baptism was foretold by a shadowed event ... John the Baptist told Jesus at the Baptism of Jesus that it was Jesus that should be baptizing John. Jesus told John that they needed to fulfill all righteousness.

Matthew 3:13-15

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad Him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered Him.

Here is another Feasts of Israel Bible study morsel to munch on ... Most do not understand what Jesus meant when He said that He and John were to "fulfill all righteousness." He was referring to the Spiritual fulfilling of a Holy Day known as the Day of Atonement:

Leviticus 16:21-31

21 And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness:
22 And the goat shall bear upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
23 And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and shall leave them there:
24 And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself, and for the people.
25 And the fat of the sin offering shall he burn upon the altar.
26 And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.
27 And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
28 And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp.
29 And this shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you:
30 For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord.
31 It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.

On the tenth day of the seventh month, the Levite priest of Israel at the time was to confess the sins of the people and put these sins onto an he goat and send the he goat into the wilderness. This he goat would then have all the sins of the people on him.

In the future, John was the Baptist was a Levite priest and Jesus did take the sins of the people upon Himself. After the Baptism of Jesus, He (like the he goat) went into the wilderness for forty days and was tempted by the devil.

Matthew 4:1-11

1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
5 Then the devil taketh Him up into the holy city, and setteth Him on a pinnacle of the Temple,
6 And saith unto Him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give His Angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Again, the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And saith unto Him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth Him, and, behold, Angels came and ministered unto Him.

Now, be sure to focus on this very interesting part of the Feasts of Israel Bible study ... This also means that Jesus' Ministry began when He was baptized on the tenth day of the seventh month and lasted until Passover which is the fourteenth day of the first month. There are 360 days in a Jewish year.

Jesus was 30 when He began His ministry ... Luke 3:22-23 ... His ministry lasted 3½ years. The Gospel of John describes three different Passover feasts over the course of Jesus' ministry. This implies that Jesus preached for a period of three years ... John 2:13, John 6:4 and John 11:55 ... It began at the Day of Atonement and ended on Passover which is six months apart. So Jesus' ministry was 3½ years long.

John was a Levite priest and Jesus (the He goat) did take the sins of the people upon Himself. After Jesus was baptized, He went into the wilderness for forty days and was tempted by the devil.

That means Jesus' ministry lasted 3½ years.

Good Friday

This brings us to another interesting fact.

The Jewish calendar day does not start at midnight but rather sunset. This begins the 12 hours of night hours and at sunrise it begins the 12 hours of day hours.

John 11:9

Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day?

Jesus died at the ninth hour of the day.

Mark 15:34-37

34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, He calleth Elias.
36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave Him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take Him down.
37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

Making it about 3:00 pm ... A few hours before sunset, when our precious Lord died for our sins. We also know that Jesus was in the earth for 3 days and 3 nights.

Matthew 12:40

For as Jonas [Jonah] was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man [Jesus] be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

And resurrected on Sunday morning as the first day of the Jewish week is Sunday just as the American calendar begins on Sunday.
