In the previous books of the Bible, we've learned about the tragedies that the kingdoms of Israel and Judah endured because of their backsliding, rebellion and distance from God. This resulted in their captivity ... Israel being carried away by Assyria and Judah being carried away by the Chaldeans.
In this Biblical Nehemiah Bible story starts just after Israel never recovered their original inheritances, and were so scattered that they became sort of merged with the heathen nations. Judah however as was prophesied, after 70 years, returned to their own country, and the books of Ezra and Nehemiah portray how the Lord accomplished this miraculous blessing and the key players of His divine plan.
