The Book of Leviticus is the third of five books of the Bible written by Moses. You may have noticed that the word Leviticus contains the word Levi in it, which leads one to think that this book is all about the tribe of Levi, or the "Levites" ... However ... This book is about the service of the priesthood which played an important role in the sacrifices and offerings that were performed to wash away sins. Being that God gave Aaron and his descendants the ministry of priesthood, and Aaron was from the tribe of Levi, the title of this book is Leviticus. In essence, we're introduced in the Book of Leviticus to the Old Covenant or the Old Testament which includes the law of the priests and the law of the offerings.
