Biblical Job Trials Job and His Friends Truth
The Patience of Job Bible Story Adventure
Today, we will be learning about the man named Job, who was tested beyond imagination and proved his love and devotion to the Lord but ... Did ask why.
Job was a man who was called "perfect" and loved God very much and always shunned evil. Job had seven sons and three daughters. He owned 7000 sheep, 3000 camels, 500 ox, 500 donkeys, many servants and riches. One day when the angels were standing in line, waiting to talk to God and satan was with them, because he is an angel himself.
When it was satan's turn to talk, God asked him, Where have you been? Satan answered, I've been walking back and forth in the earth. God said: "Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?"
Then satan answered back: "Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face."

The Patience of Job Bible Story Concerns
God responded: "And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So satan went forth from the presence of the Lord."
So, satan set forth to lure Job to sin by cursing God.
One day while Job's children were all eating dinner at the eldest brother's house, a messenger ran to Job and said, some bad people came and took all the cattle and have killed the servants in the field. I'm the only one who got away to tell you. Before he finished, another messenger ran up and said, Fire has come from the sky and has burned up all the sheep and the servants with them.
I'm the only one who got away to tell you. Before he finished, another messenger ran up and said, some bad people just took all the camels and the servants with them. I'm the only one who got away to tell you. Before he finished, one more messenger ran up and cried, Your sons and daughters were eating dinner and a great wind came out of the wilderness and hit the house. It fell on your children and the servants, killing them all. I'm the only one who got away to tell you.
Job was devastated. He tore his clothes, shaved his head and fell to the ground in prayer, The Lord has given, and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. After all that had happened, Job didn't curse God as the enemy of our souls believed he would. Wow ... Can you imagine all this falling in your lap at the same time?

The Patience of Job Bible Story Warning
Again there was a day the angels stood in line, waiting to talk to God, and satan was with them. When it was satan's turn ... God asked again: "Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause."
Satan answered the Lord, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face.
He was saying ... That Job did not curse God because even tho Job endured all those great losses, that God did not allow satan to hurt the flesh of Job and that is why he did not curse God.
And the Lord said unto Satan that he could do whatever he wanted to Job but could not kill him.
So satan went and put sores all over Job, from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. Job's wife asked him, Do you still love God? Curse God, and die. But Job said, Should we only receive good from the hand of God? Job wouldn't curse God.
Biblical Job Trials Job and His Friends Explanation
The Patience of Job Bible Story Saga
When Job's three friends heard of all that had happened, they came to mourn with and comfort him, but when they saw how much pain he was in, they sat there and none of them spoke a word for seven days. Chapters 4-31 are filled with the conversations between Job and his three friends.
If you can imagine, living a righteous godly life insomuch that you would be called perfect and all is well, then all of a sudden out of nowhere and for no apparent reason, it all goes bad. You lose your family, your possessions, your health ... You have absolutely nothing left.
Any human being would question why and despise the situation. And although these pages of Job's story are filled with a roller coaster of different emotions that Job experienced during those trying days, he refused to curse God.
He wondered why God had done this to him and He didn't know what to repent for. His friends insisted that there was blame to be placed on Job in some way or this would never have happened. Job just wanted to know ... Why.

The Patience of Job Bible Story Danger
Then, when Job and his three "friends" had ended their talks because his three friends could not determine why this had occurred and Job continued to say he was righteous and question why God allowed this to occur ... A young man named Elihu, who was much younger than the four men who had been there and heard Job and his three friends talking, spoke up.
He was angered by the way Job's friends were unable to discern the real reason Job was experiencing these horrible events and yet were making various suggestions and condemning Job. He was also angry that Job had justified himself, rather than God by questioning God. He went on and gave his "opinion" (Job 32:10 and 32:17) on what he felt about the four men's conversation.
Here is what he claimed that Job had done wrong ...
8 Surely thou [Job] hast spoken in mine [Elihu's] hearing,
and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
9 I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither
is there iniquity in me.
10 Behold, He findeth occasions against me, He counteth me
for His enemy,
11 He putteth my feet in the stocks, He marketh all my
paths.
12 Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee,
that God is greater than man.
13 Why dost thou strive against Him? for He giveth not
account of any of His matters.
Biblical Job Trials Job and His Friends Prophecy
The Patience of Job Bible Story and Faith
He is saying that because Job questioned why, that he was contending with God and told him that God is greater than man and need not explain the reason for His words or deeds ... To man.
Elihu went on to say ...
35 Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were
without wisdom.
36 My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end
because of his answers for wicked men.
37 For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he
clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
These words bring up a few questions ... Why does this man desire for Job to be tried to the end? Then he said that Job added rebellion (by asking why) to his sin. What sin? He was perfect according to the Word of the Lord.
Herein may be the answer ...
But later ... He said that he had yet to speak on God's behalf (Job 36:2) and began to point out to Job that God created everything and was making it understood that Job was not to question God. He wanted Job to beg God for forgiveness for what he felt Job did.

The Patience of Job Bible Story Events
If Elihu was "speaking on God's behalf" (Job 36:2) after this point in his oration, it would make him a Prophet and those words would be Words from God. The same as every other vessel that God had ever used and the credit ... Should go to God. For God wanted Job to repent for questioning Him and that brings us to what God had to say about the matter ...
In Chapters 38-41 ... God spoke to Job out of a whirlwind. God revealed to Job that He (God) had created everything and directed the actions of everything and that no man was to question His actions or judgments. It's filled with God's description to Job of His sovereignty, in the form of questions. It's a beautiful reminder for all of us when we forget His magnificence, to read through and be humbled by.
God makes Job see that He is so magnificent, that man doesn't have to know or understand why God does what He does. He can do anything and He doesn't have to explain it to any. Job told God that he understood and pretty much said that he knew that GOD ran the show and he kinda repented for ever questioning God. God found the words of Job to be acceptable.
Then God told Job's three friends that He was angry at them for their words were not found acceptable and had them make a burnt offering and have Job pray for their sins and God would hear Job's prayer for them.
Biblical Job Trials Job and His Friends Answers
The Patience of Job Bible Story and Rewards
God healed Job, and gave him seven more sons and three more daughters and twice as much of everything that he had before. Job lived to be a very old man being faithful to God. And satan, as always, was wrong.
So what is the moral of this book?
If and when you find yourself in the midst of trials and tribulation and cannot understand why and even feel you have done no wrong ... Just remember this story of Job and that we are not to question God as He is in control and has created everything ... Including you.
Whether Job is still deemed as being perfect after the horrible trials he endured because the devil wanted to test his love for God ... Well, only God knows that ...
Which brought to mind the very last thing the young man Elihu said:
Men do therefore fear Him: He respecteth not any that are wise of heart.
Biblical Job Trials Job and His Friends Conclusion
The Patience of Job Bible Story Summary
God will do as God wants to do and will not be limited by man's interpretation of law, justice, balance or the way they think things are to be during trials they are enduring.
That is the main point of the Book of Job.
