Suffer for Christ Biblical Suffering Truth
Christian Suffering for Christ Explained

It is always nice to have you back with us at Daily Bread! Anxious to find out what Paul wrote in the conclusion of his letter to the Galatians? Sometimes Paul likes to list things that he wants people to remember at the closing of his letters. His sharing of wisdom sort of takes on the characteristics of Proverbs, so one subject can change to another from sentence to sentence. Let's take a look at the list together:

  • If it has been discovered that someone is doing wrong, you who know better, allow that soul to be reconciled gently, being careful that you don't get caught up in their wrongdoing and stumble yourself.
  • Support one another ... By doing this you fulfill the law of Christ (Love thy neighbor as thyself, Matthew 22:39). Because if a man thinks he is more important than another when he is really nothing, he deceives himself.

  • Do the best you can do and be the best you can be, and you can be proud, not worrying what others think.
  • Let him that is learning the Word, communicate (share) with his teacher in all good things. (Many believe this means to tithe or donate to their teachers, because they dedicate their life to the Word and the redemption of your soul.)
  • Don't be deceived, God is not mocked (you can not pull the wool over His eyes). Whatever a man sows (plants within himself), is what he shall reap. For he that sows (lives) for the flesh will die, but he that sows (lives) for the Spirit, shall reap life everlasting. And don't get tired of living righteously, because in the end we will benefit, if we do not weaken.
  • Whenever there is opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the family of Faith.
Galatians 6:11

Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.

This may seem like an insignificant sentence in this letter from Paul. But if you stop and think about it, perhaps he is saying, as he recounts the list of things he is trying to reiterate that impostors have tried to lure them away from, is that he cares for them so deeply that he has gone to the trouble to write them a long, letter to explain in detail, the danger they are in of following false gospels of impostors.

Think of our world today. People do not write long letters. People do not even "write" very much anymore. They e-mail, they text, they even use as many abbreviations as possible so their communication is as brief as possible. What would one think today if they received a text as long as this letter from Paul? His compassion is truly admirable.

Paul also warns them of those who are promoting that they become circumcised, (because if they don't they will be in trouble with the Jews who preach law) and be accused of preaching the Cross of Christ. Paul points out that they want to take credit for their circumcision, (like it is some kind of contest).

Paul adds, May I never be proud of anything but the Cross (sacrifice) of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is dead to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision (being Jewish) is of any use, nor uncircumcision (being Gentile), but in Christ Jesus, a new person is created. (You are reborn!) And for those who follow this rule, peace be to them, and mercy, and upon all the people of God.

More suffering for Christ verses from Paul, From now on, let no man trouble me, for I bear in my body the scars of the Lord Jesus. (If you are one in Christ, you died with Him, therefore bearing His marks or scars.) Brethren, the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Friends, during those times of temptation in our own lives, it's a great idea to pick up the Bible and read Paul. He has a good way, nearly 2000 years after he wrote these letters, of getting a good grip on your ears and pulling your head out of the sand. If you were a Galatian, after reading that letter, you'd definitely be thumping the side of your head with the heel of your hand, saying, duhhh, or whatever they said in Galatia in those days that meant, How could I have been so foolish?!
