Child of God - Step #7

God's Plans

Welcome back young friend!

Being a Child of God means that you belong to Him and that you want to follow His plans for your life. The Bible tells us what God's plans are for His children. Let's take a look and see.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Believe that Jesus is God's Son, and that He died and rose from the dead, and you will have everlasting life.

Jeremiah 33:3

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Talk to God and He will answer you. If you look for Him you will find Him and He will show you awesome things.

1 Peter 4:10

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

He wants you to use the gifts He gives you to serve others.

1 John 2:17

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

He wants you to do His will (His wishes) so that you will live forever.

Psalms 20:4

Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.

God wants you to have the desire of your heart and for all your plans to succeed.

Proverbs 16:20

He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.

God wants you to trust in Him and obey His Word and then you will be happy.

John 15:1-2

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

He wants you to make "fruit" for Him. In other words, He wants good things to come from your efforts for His glory.

Ephesians 6:7

With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:

No matter what you do for anyone, know that you're doing it for the Lord.

Psalms 37:4-5

4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Live your life for the Lord and He will bless you.

Psalms 84:11

For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

Do the right thing.

1 Thessalonians 5:15-18

15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Be happy, pray, and give thanks to God for everything.

Psalms 9:1

I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

Tell about the greatness of God.

James 1:5

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Psalms 37:34

Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

Be patient, and stay on the Lord's path.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

God wants you to live in peace, with no harm, and for you to have hope and a bright future.

Every single day of your life, God has a plan for you. There are people He wants you to serve, words to say, kind things to do. There are places that He plans for you to be, just when someone needs you. You can live your life, thinking every day is just another day, or you can watch for the plans that God arranges just for you. Then you can see God working through you, making your life, very valuable.

There will be times when you'll discover that your plans are not always God's plans. This can disappoint us sometimes, but in the end, if you are patient and you trust in the Lord, you'll find that His plan is the right one. If you try and take your own path without Him, you'll get lost and things won't go as well as you'd like.

I'd like you to remember all the way back to something we talked about at the beginning of the program.

Ephesians 5:9

(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

The fruit that comes from the Holy Spirit of God are all the good things that you do. So that means every time you make a choice to do the right thing, you are helping the world become a better place and you are doing the job that God planned for you.

Remember this?

I'm going to tell you what the fruit is that comes from the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 5:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith ...

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, humility and self control. If you practice all these things in your life, you will be living God's plan for you and you will always remain a Child of God.

You already know what love, joy, peace, gentleness, goodness, and faith are. And in this program, we talked about humility (not being selfish or conceited) and controlling your thoughts (just like the remote for the T.V.). The one thing we didn't talk about is patience.

Patience is something that a lot of people have trouble with because in today's world, people want things, now! When you feel like you just can't wait for something, that would be a good time to talk to the Holy Spirit (your new friend) and ask Him to give you the patience you need to wait for things, because you know that God's timing is perfect, and He knows the best time for everything. Trust in Him.

As long as you live your life giving the fruits of the Spirit to God and to His people, you will be following His plan. It might be a great idea to write down the different fruits of the Spirit and hang them on your wall so you can learn them all by heart and when you are tempted to make a wrong choice, you will remember God's plan for you, and it will be easier to follow Him.

Congratulations on finishing the Child of God program! You can feel inside that with just learning a little bit more about God each day for the last seven days, you have grown closer to Him, and you feel more like His child than before. Think back to one more thing that we talked about at the very beginning of the program:

Deuteronomy 6:4-7

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Love God with all your heart, soul, and strength. Talk about Him every day, like when you're sitting in your house, and walking down the street and before you go to sleep, and when you wake up in the morning.

You are a Child of God. He is your Father. He made you, to glorify Him. You are part of His family, called Christians. Let's share Him with each other. Let's share Him with the whole world.

That is God's plan for His children.
