Christian Mind Renewal

How To Be Renewed in the Spirit of Your Mind

Psalms 62:5

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him.

I trust that I may congratulate you for waiting!

I can tell you're gonna do very well at this, and strengthening your self discipline by waiting is a great advantage to you!

Before we delve into the Christian Mind Renewal journey, be sure that you are comfortable and have cleared your mind of all problems so that you can hear what God's Word will share with us today. Make sure you have about 30 minutes with no responsibilities or interruptions.

This is your own private time ... Let's take a little walk, shall we? My friend, you and I are going to do some gardening!

Be Renewed in the Spirit of Your Mind Path

We're going to build a path of Stepping Stones through our garden together as we go. We're going to pull some weeds, plant some seeds, cultivate, water and God will make it grow!

1 Corinthians 3:7

So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

Oh yes, and one more thing ...

Your Mind ... Is the Garden!

Now hold on just one minute ... Is this Christian Mind Renewal program Biblically sound? I mean are we supposed to be trying to renew our minds? Absolutely! The Bible reveals this:

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Ephesians 4:23-24

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Be Renewed in the Spirit of Your Mind to Find Peace
The Garden ... The Mind

New friend, I have to warn you, sometimes I like to take detours. Not really off the topic, but I like to think of them as added bonuses to the topic. I'm ready to go on one right now!

Admitting you have a problem is half the battle.

Probably the more important half, because when one is in denial that they have a problem, they do nothing to fix it. Why try and fix a problem that doesn't exist, right?

Ah, but you don't want to think about it or remember it, because it is painful, or ugly, or annoying, or embarrassing, or comforting (like in the case of a habit), or any number of reasons.

This may sound silly, but admitting you have a problem, will cause you to remember it, so you can forget it. Yes, I see the irony in that, but it is true. And it defies logic. And our Father is peculiar, and doesn't have to follow rules of logic. And perhaps He gives us remembrance of things as a means of protection, so we don't let problematic things recur in our lives, that are so precious to Him.

So am I telling you that you have to remember and forget? Bingo! But you don't have to remember details of your problem and relive it ... Just be aware that it exists, so you can extinguish it. Because up til now, you have been doing all the remembering, and forgetting to do the forgetting!

Here's an oxymoron for you: Irony makes sense. 😏

Now while you're doing all that forgetting, here's something to remember:

Isaiah 43:18-19, 25

18Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
19Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
25 I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

Ezekiel 36:26

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

This is our loving Father saying, Hey, I'm doing a new thing! Watch it happen! You will see it ... There is a way! Forget the past ... Think forward! Live a new way!

You may be thinking that this is out of context, because this scripture is referring to the stubbornness of Israel. And you may be thinking that if God is perfect, why did He have to do a 'new' thing? Let me assure you, that it wasn't God's way that was not perfect, it was humanity's unwillingness to abide.

I am going to take the liberty to apply this scripture to your problem(s). It may be your sin, or sins that have been committed to you, or maybe something very complex, or maybe something very silly, but scripture is the Word of the Lord, and it is meant to help us, so if we use it out of context, I'll go out on a limb and suggest that God won't mind. I may repeat this a few times in this program, friend, please be patient with my passion for His Word and its versatility out of context.

That is the end of our first detour. One more warning. Sometimes I don't warn you that we're going on a detour ... I just take it! It's fun. You're gonna like it.

Sooooooo, me, telling you to just 'forget about it' seems a little too easy for you? Let me assure you, nothing is impossible for God. But we, humans, are stubborn, and so we're going to go through a program together since the universe seems to be trying to prevent us. I am looking forward to this, and I'm so happy you're here.

Well, you are here, seeking a solution for your problem, so I have to congratulate you ... You are halfway home!

Now, here is another Christian Mind Renewal Truth to ponder on. Anything that is worthwhile, takes time. Some problems may suddenly appear and some are created over long periods of time. Some problems come and go in a day or so, but many problems do not just go away overnight. Some of these problems are deep seated and need to be addressed by bringing the problem to light.

Your anticipation of the problem disappearing is exciting and admirable and that is exactly how you should be feeling. If you are not yet ... You will.

You may be anxious to get started and plow through this Spiritual Christian Mind Renewal voyage as to be healed ... You may even feel compelled to dive in head first with passion, being so very devoted to the cause and you can feel your desire to be healed of the problem so strongly that you almost cannot keep it inside of you.

Hold on to that feeling!

If you do not have this feeling, do not imagine yourself strange.

Just remember the promise of Jesus that we discussed in Step #1:

Matthew 17:20

Verily I say unto you, if ye have Faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Each day when you move on to the next Stepping Stone you will need this passion and expectation of success that you feel right now, and your path to healing will be solid as a rock.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Let Go and Let God!

Let Go (of your problem), And Let God (remove it)!

Here is a little analogy to keep in mind. Problems (symptoms) may go away, but the root of a problem many times does not. Look at this clinically for a moment. Let's take diabetes for an example. If you are a diabetic, you can live a perfectly normal life, if you manage your condition with insulin, regularly.

But ... The problem still exists.

Now, let's go back to looking at this Christian Mind Renewal Bible request, Spiritually. The root of most problems that require counseling, are not just going to disappear. Outside influences are often what keep people from being healed from their problems. Strange as it may sound, people become accustomed to their problems and in some cases, hold on to them, whether it be for attention, addiction, selfishness, weakness or many other reasons that they may not be conscious of, or have not admitted to themselves. Now this does not mean that one or all of these apply to your situation but let's face it ... It is just you and God that really know the Truth.

Sooooooo, If the shoe fits ... Slap that rascal on Cinderella so we can deal with it. Because if you have found that you enjoy the attention that you receive when you complain to others of your problems or if you have become accustomed to things going wrong ... That too is an issue that needs to be addressed because the Truth is my friend ... That is no way to live.

Our goal, is to identify any and all problems, and to change your lifestyle, your thoughts, your attitude, and most importantly, your beliefs in order to defeat those influences in your life. It is the way that you manage the conditions that enables you to live a happier life, the life that God intended for you.

Be Renewed in the Spirit of Your Mind and Heart
The Garden of the Mind and Heart

Jesus shared these parables with us:

Matthew 13:3-9

3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 13:18-23, 37-39

18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

37 [Soon after] He answered [Jesus explained the parable] and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the Angels.

Matthew 13:24-28

24 Another parable put He forth unto them, saying, The Kingdom of Heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

My friend, the Truth is ... The source of the problem is not you!

The problem is that a seed was planted within you by ... The enemy. He plants these bad seeds inside of you so that they will grow and affect your choices and as time passes ... Your life. It is called Spiritual Warfare and like it or not ... You are right in the middle of it. It is a battle between God and Satan and is an ongoing battle for your soul.

Most of us are like the person Jesus just described in His parable as being the ones who received seed among the weeds. Our mind is full of these weeds. And one of the biggest reasons that we have all of these weeds in our garden is because the enemy our soul has con-vinced us that these various weeds are attractive flowers (much like dandelions) when in reality ... We have been deceived.

We have become so accustomed to accepting some of the ways of man's world, that it chokes out the Truth, and that is where our problems arise. Soon our garden fills up with weeds, insects, snakes, disease, birds, etc; Whew ... There is hardly any room for the Word in there, and when you keep watering the weeds, by way of thought and worrying about these problems ... They grow.

Be Renewed in the Spirit of Your Mind Project

Weeding

Let's pull these weeds (lies) within your garden. Let's give them a good dose of Truth and bid them good riddance. Let's clear the land, so you can plant new seeds as to bring forth fruit for the Lord.

What we must remember is ... Weeding is not a one time task. As with a physical garden, your spiritual garden needs regular maintenance. You can pull every weed and come back a few days later, and you will find that a few more weeds have sprung up!

Some seeds are hidden deeper under the dirt than others, but they still rise up. Some of them, you may have thought that you already pulled, but a tiny bit of one little root broke off and remained, which, of course grew another sprout. Or perhaps more "birds" (outside sources) brought in more weeds (thoughts) by way of getting you to possess anger, jealousy, lust, greed, fear and doubt even shortly after you weeded. The wind carried some in by way of friends whispers, television, radio, etc.

The Christian Mind Renewal point of interest is ... You must keep after it. It is a new lifestyle and it takes a little time and effort to keep the weeds under control, but you will find that it takes no more time than the problems that the weeds in your life have caused.

Fertilizer works best when you apply it a little at a time, regularly. If you dump a whole bag or a whole bottle in all at once it can kill the garden. If you only do it once and then never apply it again, you're not going to achieve the results that you would if you follow the directions on the label by performing this application as directed. It will work the same way with the spiritual garden of your mind.

You must choose to pull weeds and fertilize the garden of your mind ... With Truth often.

Be patient. One step at a time. Remember the insulin? Don't fill your cup so much that it runs over. Do not expect immediate results. As with a garden, it takes time before you will see the actual fruits of your labors.

Keep in mind that you are changing your entire lifestyle, so maintain your earnest desire to be healed, and think of the tortoise and the hare ... Slow and steady wins the race!

I purposely repeat the importance of following The Path one step at a time for 14 days, because it is sooooooo important for you to get the maximum benefit of each and every step. I urge you, not to miss a day and then do two steps in one day.

Just as with prescription medication, if you take this Spiritual medicine for a day here and there when it says take every day for 14 days ... You may not be healed.

Miracle Misconceptions

In our minds, we tend to think that miracles are things that happen suddenly ... All at once. After all, when Jesus healed people, it happened right away!

There may be many reasons why you have not been able to overcome your problem up until now, but here are a couple of possibilities.

Because of the limits that the world today, and we ourselves, have put on Faith, we (without knowing sometimes, or without willingness to admit it) reserve a little doubt deep inside. Doubt is the opposite of Faith. That is enough to keep a miracle from happening immediately, or for that matter, from happening at all.

So we must establish Faith. The belief in what you want ... Not what you do not want.

Another possible reason, is that God oft times has a plan, which is different from ours. He may think that you need to learn some lesson along the way so that you will not repeat a sin. Or perhaps, He may know of another person that it may affect in one way or another if you are allowed to experience this and He is moving things into place for the best recovery for you and/or the affects it may have on another situation down the road.

Christian Mind Renewal tidbit of Truth ... If the problem that you have is one that you have brought on yourself, or one that you cannot seem to let go of, ask yourself this, How long has it taken me to turn to God for help?

He is so very patient with us, shouldn't we be a little patient too? If it takes longer than we prefer for a miracle to happen, do we give up on God and doubt that He will help us?

Nehhhhhhh ... He is worthy of our patience as patience establishes our Faith.

Romans 5:2-4

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

If you think about it, it may be that miracles are happening all around us, instantaneously, all the time, but our impatience allows doubt to creep back into our minds so quickly, and we may sabotage ourselves with our own doubt! It could happen so fast, that we never even recognize that a miracle took place.

When we think of miracles, the ones that happen suddenly are the ones that we seem to remember most, but how many more miracles have happened that are just as extraordinary, that have happened over time?

This is how it will be with this Christian Mind Renewal procedure. It requires the entire 14 days.

Field Trips

While we are on, The Path, we are going on some Field Trips as well. Some of the Field Trips provide information that will help you to increase your knowledge, ability, and Faith to overcome your problem.

Most Field Trips are references to Bible Scripture as the Lord is the real Physician here. His treatment is imperative. He is the healer. The miracle comes from Him. Without His Word, the prescription cannot be filled.

Some Field Trips are music ... If you don't have a high speed internet connection, or cannot find the music suggested to listen to, it will not affect your program. It is simply an enhancer to the program and is optional. Maybe you can get some of your own Christian Music CDs, buy some, rent some, borrow some or go to your local library or tune in your radio to a Christian station and hear some. Seek and ye shall find.

They say that music soothes the soul. How do you know that is true? When God sent an evil spirit upon king Saul, David played Godly music for him and the evil spirit went away.

1 Samuel 16:23

And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Evil spirits hate anything holy, so go ahead and tap your toe when the Holy Spirit moves you with the music. The words from these Christian songs will stick in your mind and assist you during the mind cleansing process. Most people cannot recite scripture very well, but they sure can remember every single word to their favorite Christian Songs.

The more you put into something, the more you get out of it. In like manner, these Field Trips are designed to help you achieve the greatest success at conquering your problems. You may be on one of our Field Trips and say to yourself, "This doesn't apply to me, or my problem," at time in my life, but it is all part of the big picture.

Ponder on this Christian Mind Renewal Fact. You would not sit down to dinner and dig into a big spoonful of yeast, but the bread you eat would not be the same without yeast. You may not recognize the necessity, but at some point in your life, when outside influences try and sneak in to pose a problem, these things that seem unnecessary now, will all be stored in your garden shed and on hand to prevent new weeds from growing.

There are many times throughout this program when things will be repeated. That is because repetition makes things easier to remember and it is our goal together to free you of your problem so you can be and do what God wants you to be and do.

Many attempts repeated, complete any undertaking!

There are also going to be times when I will be speaking frankly with you. That is because I am your friend and feel I have the right and obligation to do so.

Proverbs 27:6

Faithful are the wounds of a friend but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
