Who are the Whisperers in the Bible

Whispers ... We all hear them whether you realize it or not. We all hear these evil thoughts from time to time. Some more than others. Whether you realize it or not. We have all seen cartoons with a devil with his little pitchfork on one shoulder and an Angel on the other shoulder and both are whispering their own messages to the soul whose shoulder they are upon. In reality ... The cartoon is very close to what is actually occurring according to the Bible.

It is called Spiritual Warfare. It is a battle between God and Satan for souls. And like it or not, you are right in the middle of it and your soul is one of the souls that is being fought over.

1 Peter 5:8-9

⁸ Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
⁹ Whom resist stedfast in the Faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Who are the Whisperers in the Bible After

The Bible reveals that many of God's chosen people were able to hear these Spiritual Whispers and voices and even received physical visits from these entities. Sometimes these were in dreams and visions and other times the soul was wide awake when they were visited and spoken to. The voices were that of Angels, the Holy Ghost, Jesus and God Himself.

Moses, Abraham, David, Mary, Paul and many others had actual communication with these entities sent by God to talk with them. Most of us talk to god and do not know we can talk with God. Notice that women were also able to talk with these Spiritual entities. Even Hagar, a mere handmaiden had herself a conversation with an Angel of God.

Genesis 16:7-9

⁷ And the angel of the Lord found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
⁸ And he said, Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go? And she said, I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai.
⁹ And the angel of the Lord said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

Jesus also confirmed this (concerning God's children ... Namely you):

Matthew 18:10

Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in Heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in Heaven.

The Whisperer - Evil Whispers Woe

Who are the Whisperers in the Bible Today

Some would say ... Why do I not see these Angels like those in the Bible did. Well my friend, perhaps it is because those souls spent most of their time getting close to God and that opens the Spiritual realm. This day and age ... Most are too busy with the world to take the time to seek out God properly. Many are stubborn about working on their Faith. But even a mule, which is supposed to be very stubborn saw an Angel ...

Numbers 22:23

And the ass saw the Angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand ...

So, we see that the whispered voices within that we oft times hear echoing in our mind which most deem as merely their own thoughts ... Could be an Angel or even the God Jesus or the Holy Ghost. And just because we cannot see them, does not mean they are not there.

However ... We also find in God's Word that Satan talks to souls too ... Satan can cause thoughts to be planted in our mind ...

Ezekiel 38:10

Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought

Satan likes to deceive us and then run to God and rat us out ...

Revelation 12:10

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren [Satan] is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Eve was the first soul in the Bible to hear the deceptive whispers of Satan through a serpent. She then had Adam join her in following Satan's deception and they were both punished for hearing and believing his lies. Judas became victim of Satan's whispers.

John 13:2

And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

He even whispered to Jesus in Matthew, Chapter 4 trying to get Jesus to trade up God. As we all know Jesus used Truth to send Satan away empty handed.

Who are the Whisperers in the Bible - Origins

But you know what my friends ... Over the many years that I have been serving the Lord ... I have found that Satan's best method of communicating with God's people as to plant his seeds of deceit is by using human whisperers ...

Proverbs 16:28

A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

These Whisperers have been in the Church from the beginning ...

2 Corinthians 12:20

For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults ...

What does God think of these whisperers?

Romans 1:28-32

²⁸ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
²⁹ Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
³⁰ Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
³¹ Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
³² Who knowing the Judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Well, that does not sound very good. If you ever find yourself in the shadows whispering with someone about others ... Walk away immediately. Even if it is a friend that begins whispering to you about someone else, just let em know they should forgive and Love all and get outta there before the enemy of your soul runs up to God and points at you.

Do as Jesus did when Satan was whispering to Him and tell the Truth. It is wrong to whisper and you will not take part in Satan's plot. Choose to submit to the rules God has laid down regarding Love and forgiveness:

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The Whisperer - Evil Whispers and Thoughts

Who are the Whisperers in the Bible Serving

Evil Thoughts Bible Note ... The Bible said "The devil will flee". That is because it is the person being inspired by Satan that has drawn you to the shadows to hear the whispers. Just as when Jesus told Peter when Peter had spoken:

Get thee behind me Satan:

Matthew 16:23

But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

It is not the person that is whispering that is the root ... It is Satan.

So you must try and reach your friend with Truth. Not just adhere to the whispers just because it is a friend. Remember ... God first, then family then friends then whatever:

Ephesians 5:9-12

⁹ (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
¹⁰ Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
¹² For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

The definition of reprove is ... To convey one's disapproval of; to rebuke, especially in a gentle, sweet, kind tone.

So in a kind and gentle manner let the person know the Truth. You are re-proving the matter as we are taught to prove all things:

1 Thessalonians 5:21-22

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Hear the Spirit of Truth ...

Ephesians 6:11-18

¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
¹² For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
¹³ Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
¹⁴ Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with Truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
¹⁵ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
¹⁶ Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God:
¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The Whisperer - Evil Whispers Fruits

Who are the Whisperers in the Bible Hunting

Does this sound like the fruits of someone getting involved in whispering? No !!! Save your friend's soul. Tell the Truth. Did you read these words?

Ephesians 6:18

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Do not be a part of Satan's plot which is pride to divide.

He heard the Words of our Lord that the gates of hell could not prevail against the Church so he uses the Christians who are within the Body of Christ to do his works. Pride within mankind is his favorite tool.

OK ... So we now know how we are supposed to deal with physical whisperers. So how do we discern the origins of whispers that we hear within ourselves? The answer is simple. Just as Jesus told us ...You shall know by their fruits. If the whispered thoughts within us bring forth righteous Spiritual fruits ... It is of God.

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

But if the fruits are bad ...

Galatians 5:19-21

¹⁹ Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
²¹ Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Let's go back to the human whisperers for a sec ... Do their fruits appear to be Fruit of the Spirit or fruits of the flesh (Self - Pride)? This is yet another way to discern the whispers origin.

Who are the Whisperers in the Bible Against

This works the same way with whispers within ... When you sense a thought that enters your mind is unfruitful and the resulting emotions are obviously negative. Reprove it. Shine the Light of Truth on it and deal with it then and there. Do as Jesus did to Satan and tell it the Truth and the thought will flee because you did not believe. You receive what you believe. This works both ways. Whether what you believed was good or bad.

You do not want to allow such thoughts to be in your mind as your spirit (Spiritual Emotions) reacts to your thoughts. Check out the Trinity study sometime to learn more:

We must establish the new habit of dealing with each thought that enters our mind with care as if it could be from God or ... The enemy of your soul who seeks to pull your heart strings like a puppet. Check out this study to learn more on how to renew your mind as the Bible teaches us to do ...

We all know what we are talking about here ... You know, you are just kicked back doing your every day routine then something someone says or does doesn't sit right with you. Suddenly you hear those whispers. "They are badmouthing you" ... "How many people saw that" ... How many people are thinking something now" ... Suddenly you blurt something out only to find it was a misunderstanding and they were not even talking about you.

Where did the voices come from? What are the origins of the thoughts, whispers or whatever you want to call them? Check the fruits ... The emotional reaction was hatred, wrath, strife and pride ... Where do you think the whispers came from?

Now where did we read those words just a bit ago? Oh yes, I remember ...

Galatians 5:19-21

The Whisperer - Evil Whispers Summary

Who are the Whisperers in the Bible Ending

It was not God. It was the enemy of your soul trying to change your spirit so you would fall in some vain attempt to have you not "inherit the Kingdom of God" ... Oh, and if you do fall into the trap, just get up, repent and carry on.

Start doing this with as many thoughts as you can each day. Start checking the fruits of the thoughts you entertain. You will find LOTS of bad seeds being planted by the enemy of your soul. But something else you will find is God planting seeds. You can even discover ...

The Voice of God within you.

Listen to His voice ... Not evil whispers.
