Satan

Satan the Devil in the Bible

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story

Satan is the devil. He is the enemy of God and anyone who serves God. Biblical Satan once was an angel, but he was so jealous of God. He actually wants to be God and worshiped as God is, so he tries to capture people's souls by deceiving them.

Satan the devil wants to CON-fuse people by having them in constant chaos and if the person ever falls, Lucifer the fallen angel wants them to feel CON-demned. Satan the devil has a lot of costumes, so you might not recognize that it is him giving you various thoughts and even advice from other humans who you deem as trustworthy, when it is actually Satan using the person in an attempt to have you make poor choices.

But, if you stay close to Jesus, it is certain that Satan the devil cannot harm you. People who believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, will go to Heaven forever, and people who choose to follow Satan, will go to the lake of fire forever.

But, be not deceived. All Christians fall down and you need only get up, repent and carry knowing the unconditional Love of God provides mercy. Even the Saints such as Peter and Paul made poor choices and were deceived by Satan in the Bible. Thank God for God's Grace.

What is the origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel? Who is Satan, where did Satan come from, what does Satan do in the future and what will be Satan's outcome? Satan, aka Lucifer, the devil and other names has been tormenting humans from the very beginning. Satan the devil even harassed Adam and Eve.

Satan has had a plan from the beginning ... Satan's plan is to deceive the souls of mankind in a vain attempt to become like God. Satan came in the form of a serpent in the Garden of Eden to deceive Eve which then brought Adam into what is now known as the Original Sin.

Christians are quite aware that as much as you try, they find themselves sinning yet again. This is because of the Original Sin which is the sinful nature that every human inherited after the choice that Adam and Eve made thousands of years ago in the Garden of Eden and were evicted from the Garden of Eden.

Due to this choice made by the first man and woman ... The Sin is now in the flesh of all mankind and when we are born, we are destined to death unless we make the choice to believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

1 John 3:8

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

1 Corinthians 15:22

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Satan the Devil in the Bible Fall

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story Warning

It is hard to believe, but Satan was once a beautiful angel of God, Satan changed when pride entered his heart. His goal is to turn people away from God. The Bible tells us Satan the devil actually stands in line before God's Throne to accuse humans of sins that they commit so they will be in trouble even though it was he that lured them into the sin. Much like an older brother or sister who had us steal some cookies and when the parents found out, they pointed at you.

Job 1:6-7

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, ad from walking up and down in it.

We will talk more about that in a bit. Satan the devil was a murderer from the beginning and there is no Truth found within him because he is a liar, and the father of it according to Scripture:

John 8:44-47

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?
47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Let's take a look at the Origin of Lucifer and how the Original Sin came about.

Genesis 2:15-25

15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Ponder on that ... Once you know the difference between good and evil, you become aware and therefore you become responsible for the evil that you choose to do. Obviously this is because you now know better and choose to sin anyway.

But if you do not know the difference between good and bad, is it sin? Let me give you an example, if an infant took a piece of candy off a stand in the checkout aisle of the grocery store while her parent unloaded the groceries onto the counter, is it stealing? God forbid. The baby doesn't know any better.

This tree in the Garden of Eden gives one the knowledge of what is good and what is evil. Some people believe that it was an apple that Adam and Eve ate. But, the Truth is that it does not say what fruit it was. It says that it was the Tree of Knowledge between Good and Evil and the fruit from said tree would do just that. Make them aware of sin.

James 4:17

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Let's go back to the Garden of Eden ...

Satan the Devil in the Bible Woe

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story Fear

Genesis, Chapter 3

1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And He said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
16 Unto the woman He said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
17 And unto Adam He said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

Satan the Devil in the Bible Sin

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story Danger

Let's take a field trip and go behind the scenes and do a little background check on the entity known as the serpent in the book of Genesis who appears in our Adam and Eve story of the original sin.

Who is this serpent? Most people would say the devil ... As if there is only one. That is simply not true. There is more than one devil.

Luke 8:30

And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.

James 2:19

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

There is one of many devils known as Satan in the Bible, who is the prince or leader of all devils, and his name is Lucifer.

Isaiah 14:12-16

12 How art thou fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

Lucifer (son of the morning) wanted to be above God. "I will be like the Most High," he said. Satan is not omniscient, in other words, he does not possess infinite knowledge and/or understanding so he cannot read your mind. What we commonly refer to as "the devil" are really a multitude of fallen (traitor) angels that turned away from God to pursue evil. So this "devil" that entered the garden in the form of a snake ... May or may not be Satan himself.

It is believed that it is Satan because of this scripture which was speaking of Satan.

Ezekiel 28:13-19

13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
14 Thou art the anointed cherub [Angel] that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

Full of wisdom, perfect in beauty. He was in Garden of Eden. God created him and gave him everything. "The anointed cherub that covereth." He was upon the holy mountain of God. He was perfect from his creation until sin was found in him. Covering cherub from the midst of stones of fire. His beauty and wisdom caused vanity (heart uplift) ... He defiled sanctuaries by the abundance of sin. God will destroy him.

Satan the Devil in the Bible Plan

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story Plot

We are beginning to find a secret pattern. Satan has had his plan and uses evil spirits to do his bidding to have humans sin and be sentenced to hell along with him and actually waits in line to accuse God's people to see that his plan comes to pass.

Satan the devil walks to and fro upon the earth, under God's rule seeking who he can deceive and then run and accuse them before God.

Job 1:6-12

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

Satan the devil is also known as the prince of power of the air. The spirit that works in children of disobedience.

Ephesians 2:2

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.

Satan in the Bible is also known as the prince of this world. The prince of this world shall be cast out.

John 12:31

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

John 14:30

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

And the prince of this world is to be judged.

John 16:11

Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

The devil tempts all, even Jesus was tempted by this devil.

Luke 4:2-12

2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days He did eat nothing: and when they were ended, He afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto Him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word of God.
5 And the devil, taking Him up into an high mountain, shewed unto Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto Him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
9 And he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set Him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto Him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10 For it is written, He shall give His Angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Avoid Satan the Devil in the Bible

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story Protection

Satan departs if you resist him.

Luke 4:13

And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a season.

But if you submit to God and resist the devil, he will leave.

James 4:7

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Did you know that the world is being controlled by the devil until the end.

Luke 4:6

And the devil said unto Him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

The devil plots to deceive us so we are to put on the armor of God.

Ephesians 6:11

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Satan Bible study reveals that Satan your adversary, the devil, seeks to devour as a lion. Resist him with Faith in Jesus.

1 Peter 5:8-9

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Satan is also known as the dragon in the Book of Revelation. The dragon deceives the whole world and is sentenced to be cast to earth and his angels with him. He accuses the brethren night and day to God. You can overcome him by the Blood of the Lamb.

Satan the devil now knows that his time is short and is very angry about it. He seeks to take as many souls as he can with him. Note again that Satan accuses Christians day and night before God.

Revelation 12:9-17

9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
10 And I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the Kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
12 Therefore rejoice, ye Heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Satan the Devil in the Bible End Times

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story Future

In the last days many people will depart from the faith and follow seducing spirits and devilish doctrines. In particular during the End Times.

1 Timothy 4:1

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

After the End Times is over and Antichrist is defeated by Jesus at Armageddon ... Satan is cast into the pit for 1000 years. This is during the Millennium.

Revelation 20:2

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.

Satan cast into lake of fire forever.

Revelation 20:10

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Today ... Satan knows that his time is short. He is going to do some horrible things during the End Times through antichrist.

Another Important Matter

Many feel that because Satan is the enemy of our souls that we can go around cussing and cursing him.

The Bible is clear on this matter:

2 Peter 2:10-11

10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
11 Whereas Angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.

The wording of these scriptures does not reflect the resistance of mankind against human government ... But rather mankind speaking against supernatural powers and authority. This is proven when it says Angels fear to bring accusation against these "dignities" ...

Angels certainly do not fear to bring accusation against a human. Furthermore, the word "dignities" comes from the Greek word "doxa," which is translated as being "supernatural powers."

The book of Jude further explains:

Jude 1:8-9

8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
9 Yet Michael the Archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Our enemy, Satan is of such "high authority" that even Michael does not bring against him a railing accusation but simply said "the Lord rebuke you."

High Authority? How is that you may ask.

Our enemy of the soul ... Satan was chosen by God to be an anointed cherub:

Ezekiel 28:14

Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

Satan the Devil in the Bible Warning

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story Concern

If even an Archangel chose not to accuse Satan of anything, but only says "The Lord rebuke thee" ... Shouldn't you consider his choice and as mere humans follow suit? God created Satan which means Satan belongs to God and He anointed Satan just as God anointed King Saul and King David.

And David made it clear that we are not to talk or act harshly against God's anointed, whether it be past or present.

1 Samuel 24:6, 10

6 And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD's anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.
10 Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD's anointed.

2 Samuel 1:14

And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?

Even tho David was to replace Saul as the anointed King ... David knew better than to talk against or harm someone God once anointed. And that was a human that was anointed. Satan was/is an anointed angel.

It is actually very simple ... The Bible is crystal clear that God is allowing evil Satan to finish out his "term" until he is thrown into the pit for 1000 years. After the End Times is over and Antichrist is defeated by Jesus at Armageddon ... Satan is cast into pit for 1000 years. This is during the Millennium.

Revelation 20:2

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years.

And when released after the 1000 years, this evil Satan will try again to attack God's people but alas ... The Biblical Satan is then cast into the Lake of Fire ... Forever.

Revelation 20:7-10

7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the Saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of Heaven, and devoured them.
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Today ... Satan on the Bible knows that his time is short. This means that Satan is going to do some horrible things during the End Times through his proxy known as Antichrist.

It is always wise to keep a watchful eye on your own fruits (words and deeds) as well as the fruits of others to discern if they are being influenced by the Satan the devil who is the enemy of your soul. They are known as the works of the flesh:

Galatians 5:19-23

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

As you can see ... Anger, hatred, wrath, etc. are fruits of the flesh and not the Holy Spirit:

Ephesians 5:9-10

9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

So to hold these fruits within for anyone is not righteous.

Satan the Devil in the Bible Summary

Origin of Lucifer the fallen Angel Story Commentary

I hope we have proven the Truth of what is acceptable unto our Lord. The next time you are being lured away from the righteous path by the enemy of your soul and afterward are disgusted with yourself for falling victim yet again, don't go get mad ...

Go Get Jesus !!!

Ephesians 6:10-20

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with Truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the Gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of Faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all Saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the Gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
