Moses was chosen by God to lead God's chosen people out of slavery in Egypt. When Moses was a baby, his mother hid him because the Pharaoh in Egypt ordered that all the Hebrew baby boys were to be killed. Pharaoh did that because he was afraid that the Hebrews would grow to become more and mightier than the Egyptians and take over Egypt.

When Moses got too big to hide anymore, his mother put him in a basket and told his sister to float the basket in the Nile River. Pharaoh's daughter found the baby Moses, and raised him as her own son.

Who is Moses in the Bible? The story of Moses begins in the Book of Exodus with the Israelites enslaved in Egypt by a new pharaoh after they had gone to Egypt to escape famine during Joseph's story in the Book of Genesis. Moses being called by God, ends up leading the Israelites out of slavery and into the promised land, but not without many trials and tribulations along the way.

The Moses story reveals Moses as being a prophet who is given the Ten Commandments by God. The story of Moses ends with his death in the Book of Deuteronomy. It is said that Moses was buried in Moab. Nobody knows where his grave is. Moses was over 120 years old when he died according to the story of Moses in the Bible. He was a major stepping stone in God's plan, leading to Jesus.

Now that we (are so fortunate to) have the New Testament to help us in clarifying the Old Testament (of which God chose Moses to present to His people), we can understand how we reconcile to God and bond with Him by our Mediator and Savior ...
