Christian Romance in the Bible Ideas
True Christian Romantic Bible Quotes

We have just learned how important forgiveness and Grace are in a marriage and how we are to try and refresh our marriage by doing some of the things that we once did for our spouse, but no longer do.

You were also given the opportunity to create a chart for things that you and your spouse can do together and to work on as to restore the love that you once felt.

Today, we are going to look at ways to create, enhance or restore the romance.

Romance makes the marriage special. It makes you feel loved and wanted by your spouse, doesn't it? Who doesn't like to be wanted and feel special?

Consider these simple ideas of enhancing the romance within your marriage ...

A husband has to go away on a business trip for 4 days. He packs his bags the night before and gets ready for bed. The wife takes little notes that she had written previously and puts them within his luggage in various places such as in his pockets, his shoes, his toiletry bag, his wallet, etc. For the entire 4 days, the husband was finding love notes from his wife and smiling each time. His mind was constantly on her as each hour he seemed to find a new note with a precious message in it.

There was an older married couple. Instead of writing love notes to each other, they had a different "game" they played. At random times, one would leave the letter S on something around the house.

To them, S symbolized "Smile because I love you" ... They would leave the letter written in the sugar, so when the other opened up the sugar, they would see it ... And smile, knowing that the other thought of them when they did it. She would unroll all the toilet paper just to put on the toilet paper roll "S," and then roll it all back up. If the dust built up too much on the TV, an S was inscribed in it by one or the other. Of course the bath mirror had an "S" on it quite often.

Constant reminders to each other that they are loved by the other.

When was the last time you wrote a love note to your spouse?

Here are a few examples of what a note could say:

  • I'm so glad you're my husband/wife.
  • I smile when I think about you!
  • You make my life wonderful.
  • Remember when we said "I Do," well I still do!
  • When I met you, I couldn't believe how lucky I was. Since we've been married, I can't believe how lucky I am!
  • The most amazing part of my life is you!
  • Let's run away together - To the bedroom!
  • You make every day a great day.
  • We may not be perfect, but we're perfect for each other!
  • Today is a great day because the first thing I saw this morning was your beautiful face.
  • I'd do it all over again.
  • I'm so in love with you.
  • I'm yours.
  • I'm so glad we are best friends.
  • You are beautiful.
  • Our hands fit perfectly together.
  • I just wanted to remind you I love you!
  • You are so amazing!
  • I am so blessed to have you in my life.

Let's see what compliments were used in the Song of Solomon:

The Song of Solomon 4:1-11

1 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead.
2 Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.
3 Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks.
4 Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.
5 Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies.
6 Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
7 Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.
8 Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, from the lions' dens, from the mountains of the leopards.
9 Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.
10 How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!
11 Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

What are some things that you can do to spice up the romance in your marriage?

  • Next time you want special attention, turn down the lights, light some candles, and play some music.
  • Write your partner flirty or sweet notes. Leave them in their car, on the mirror or door, and/or in their bag/briefcase or lunch.
  • Kiss your partner like you mean it when they walk in and out of the door.
  • Send your partner a card/flowers at work.
  • Surprise your spouse with a Christian Romantic night out (or in).
  • Schedule a babysitter and make reservations at an elegant, no-kids-allowed restaurant.

What else did Solomon recommend for us to try?

How about a little ... Spontaneity!

The Song of Solomon 7:10-13

10 I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me.
11 Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages.
12 Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves.
13 The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.

Christian Romance in the Bible Blessings
True Christian Romantic Bible Quotes as Gifts

Take a walk or drive to just anywhere. Escape somewhere together! Get away! Just the two of you!

Flirting! Remember what that was like?

Bring that back into the marriage!

Remember when you used to just stare into your spouses eyes and sojourn into another realm? When is the last time you looked into your spouses eyes? Did you know that eyes are the portal to one's soul?

Ever notice how you can tell how new a couple is or not? The newer couples can't seem to stop staring at each other! Get lost in each other's eyes again. Look into each other's souls and forget about the real world around you.

Eyes are unique.

Something else that is unique ... Someone's scent. I am not talking about the perfume and cologne that people choose to cover their natural scent with. I am referring to the you-nique scent that only that person has.

Romance keeps the daily stress and worries to a minimum. It puts you up on "Cloud 9." On Cloud 9, nothing can touch you. No stress, no worry ... Just true love itself.

Romance is extremely important ... But don't forget a strong foundation a marriage should have ... Friendship.

Lovers should also be friends.

Best of Friends

The Song of Solomon 5:16

His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.

Were you and your spouse not once best friends? If the friendship that you once shared is gone, why not strive to get it back? Remember the best memories that you have of being together when it was just "friends."

It is within your power to restore the romance in your marriage, you know ... Even if they do not appear to be interested at first. You know how when someone yawns, the people around that person can't help but yawn? Even thinking about yawning usually causes you to yawn.

The same goes with a smile. If you smile at someone, they automatically smile back.

Romance is the same way. It is contagious. If you desire to be romantic with your spouse, they will likely follow your lead and want to play back ... If you are able to restore the first love.

And if they do not respond ... Don't stop after one instance. If you are truly interested in restoring the love that you once had ... Keep it coming consistently.

Do at least one romantic thing for your spouse every day. Whether they return the gesture or not ... They will at some point ... If you persist until you succeed. It doesn't have to be anything huge ... Even subtle little notes keep the excitement building.

Think about ways that you can add romance back into your marriage. You may be pleasantly surprised at the results you receive.

Do not take your love for granted. Let's read a story together that gives a slight idea of what can happen when we take someone for granted.

Once upon a time, there was a guy who met a girl and he was very much in love with this girl. To show his love ... This Christian Romantic fella folded 1,000 pieces of paper cranes as a gift to his girl. They were so much in love, but one had a secret passion.

Although, at that time he was just a small executive in his company and his future didn't seem too bright, the guy always spoke of his dreams of becoming someone important and being rich. This was the topic of many of their conversations and everything he did, was for that purpose. But, he just couldn't seem to climb that corporate ladder quick enough. And the woman saw this.

One day, his girl told him that she was going to Paris and was never coming back. She also told him that she cannot visualize any type of future for the both of them, so she suggested they go their own separate ways ... Heartbroken, the guy agreed.

When he regained his confidence, he worked hard day and night. He now had but ONE goal and that was to be important and rich. Finally with all this hard work and spending ALL of his time working towards his goals, this guy had set up his own company ...

An employee asked him his secret to success and he responded:

"You have to look out for number one."

One rainy day, while this guy was driving, he saw an elderly couple sharing an umbrella in the rain walking to some destination. Even with the umbrella, they were still drenched. It didn't take him long to realize that they were his ex-girlfriend's parents.

With a heart filled with revenge, he drove slowly beside the couple, wanting them to spot him in his luxury sedan. He wanted them to know that he was important and had his own company, condo, etc.

He had made it in life!

Before the guy could do so, he realized the couple was walking towards a cemetery, and he got out of his car and followed them. They walked up to a certain grave site.

He looked at the tombstone and he saw a photograph of his ex-girlfriend, smiling sweetly as ever at him. He also saw his precious paper cranes in a bottle placed beside her tomb.

He walked over to her parents and asked them what had happened. They explained, that she did not ever leave for France at all. She was stricken ill with cancer. In her heart, she knew that her love would make it someday, but she did not want her illness to be his obstacle ... Therefore she had chosen to leave him ... For him to be able to have his dream.

She asked her parents to put the paper cranes that her love gave her beside her, because, if the day ever came when fate would bring him to her again, he would know of the love she had for him.

The guy just dropped to the ground and wept ... He had traded the love of his life for dreams of fame and riches. Now, that he had it ... All he wanted was her.

As he sat there looking at her beautiful eyes in her photo, he discovered that the worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them, but knowing you will never be with them again.

The End

The moral of this story is: Do not trade up something as precious as love for selfish and temporal aspirations and dreams.

Christian Romantic Bible Quotes Brings Tears

Treasure what you have while you have it ...

Time is too slow for those who wait;
Too swift for those who fear;
Too long for those who grieve;
Too short for those who rejoice;
But for those who love ...
Time is Eternity.

Henry Van Dyke

For all of you out there with someone special in your heart ... Cherish that person. Cherish every moment that you are allowed to spend together with that special someone, for in life, anything can happen at any time.

Don't Take the Girl
by Tim McGraw

Johnny's daddy was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old
A little girl came through the front gate holdin' a fishing pole
His dad looked down and smiled, said we cant leave her behind
Son I know you don't want her to go but someday you'll change your mind
And Johnny said take Jimmy Johnson, take Tommy Thompson, take my best friend Bo
Take anybody that you want as long as she don't go
Take any boy in the world
Daddy please don't take the girl
Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Ten years down the road
He held her tight and kissed her lips
In front of the picture show
Stranger came and pulled a gun
Grabbed her by the arm said if you do what I tell you to, there wont be any harm
And Johnny said take my money, take my wallet, take my credit cards
Here's the watch that my grandpa gave me
Here's the key to my car
Mister give it a whirl
But please don't take the girl
Same old boy
Same sweet girl
Five years down the road
There's going to be a little one and she says its time to go
Doctor says the baby's fine but you'll have to leave
cause his mommas fading fast and Johnny hit his knees and there he prayed
Take the very breath you gave me
Take the heart from my chest
Ill gladly take her place if you'll let me
Make this my last request
Take me out of this world
God, please don't take the girl
Johnny's daddy
Was taking him fishin'
When he was eight years old

Do not wait until it is too late.

Christian Romance in the Bible Parables
Lovely Christian Romantic Bible Quotes

Now, another story. Notice what happens with the one man that was given only one "talent." What did he do with it?

Matthew 25:14-29

14 For the Kingdom of Heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.
17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

So, instead of using the talent that he was given to do some good for others as it was intended, he hid it for himself.

Do we do that within our own marriage? Do we use the gifts that we have been given for ourselves only or use do we use them to better our spouse as well?

Notice the themes of the stories so far. Nothing is ours ... It is merely a gift given to us by the Lord:

1 Timothy 6:7

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

Job 1:21

And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

These gifts can be taken at any time, so we are to treasure them while we are able top do so. The ole cliché rings true ...

You never know what you have until it's gone.

So ... Let's do this right. Let's change our perspective. What are some small things that we can do to show our spouse we appreciate them?

What about dinner? A lot of frustration can stem around "dinner time." What are some things we can do to break that negative routine? How about one offers to help the other person cook? Do the dishes without being asked when dinner is over? Have a conversation about positive things during dinner. Say "Thank you" when the meal is over ... Either for the other spouse cooking or for the company that they gave you during dinner.

Have you noticed how the situation drastically changes when someone says "thank you" for something? It seems to make everything okay again.

No one is being told what to do ... Rather thanked for what they have done. Then, when a favor is asked later, they are more willing to do it rather than kicking the dirt and doing it because they have to (if they decide to do it at all).

Let me share another Christian Romance scenario ...

There is a couple that has been married for quite some time. One day, at a routine doctor visit, one was told that they have terminal cancer. Everything for this couple has just changed. Do you expect the couple to continue in their own selfish ways? No ... Both lives change. What would you do for your spouse if you found out they had terminal cancer?

Live each day with your loved one as if it could be the last.

Christian Romantic Bible Quotes Summary

Don't take for granted what you have, God can and has taken away the spouse and/or negatively affected the marriages and families as to grab attention to restore the love.

You know what you need to do now. It is your choice to love, or not to love.

If you choose to Love ... God will bless that love and marriage.
